Everything happens at first time. First service is all about first's!
Who would have thought of my adventure ending with a black lining on so far silver shiny clouds?
With a huge list of wishes, questions and niggles I had handed over the car today for serving. I had picture perfect start of the day! First in line, First to check in the vehicle for first free service! First SA and RM spending a lot of time with me to understand what I want and what are my concerns. First experience at Mahindra/ Sireesh Automobiles to witness the servicing! I was expected to receive the vehicle by lunch time! So I decided to bunk the work to take the car with me.
During service, I was closely watching the car! Things were so nice. SA once called me inside the work bay to show how the software update to ECU and Infotainment are being done! No other car of mine had given me this chance, you see.
But then the honeymoon ends here.

It's almost 3.30pm and the car is still not washed, the rear quarter panel sticker is not in place yet! I am getting late for my 4pm meeting. I asked SA and RM to intervene. The do so fiercely taking on all other teams at work. Great intentions, I must say.
And then service - GM pitches in to replace the rear quarter chrome line with a brand new under warranty. Good. This time they claim is a different adhesive. Should last longer. And if it falls off again, they will do the sticker job. Agreed.
So finally I missed my 4pm meeting and took vehicle delivery by 4.30pm. I drive out of the gate to set the destination to my home so I can take my extremely important video conference call from home at 6pm. Only to discover that Navigation is showing that weird window - contact service station! I took a 180 degree turn back into the service station. The Techno expert pitches in. He refreshed the infotainment software thrice in front of me, updated map software 4 times only to see the same screen :( And I missed the 6pm meeting too. by this time everyone has eft the service station except this early bird and my tech support team!
They finally concluded that this problem cannot be solved by them. They are escalating this to Nippon and expect the "silver" box to be dispatched for my car in next 1-2 days! And this ends my first service visit with a essential follow up visit! So in short for the lack of navigation I did not want to cancel the trip starting tomorrow. Hence decided to pull out the car. I will be visiting the service station again next week upon my return to have this navigation issue fixed.
Findings from today -
- The car is very much refined like feeling now.
- Gear shifts have improved.
- The rear quarter panel chrome is newly applied again.
- Confirmation on no one-hour mode.
I will be driving off tomorrow to Goa for Ganesha festival and I will know more improvements if any to report soon.
First Service Summary -
Odometer - 4678 Kms
What's done - Engine Oil changed, AC cleaned, Engine Bay coated with their spray product (forgot the name.)
Expenses - Rs 3503.00
Some random observations -
- Mahindra is a great team! Some dealers like Sireesh are fabulous.
- No matter what, yo will find these morons - a driver assigned the duty to drop off the vehicle of a customer, was racing one of the XUV in neutral! And none scolded him.
- if you be appreciative of their work, everyone at service station will make you feel special and comfortable.
Stay tuned for more updates in next week when I fix infotainment maps issue.
