Re: 2007 Toyota Camry MT : The Never-Say-Die Car!

I had a real liking for this car though the automatic one. I almost purchased one but the low ground clearance was a major drawback for me. It was ok in good roads but even a small speed breaker can hit the car.

It still has a decent road presence due to its sheer length.

Wish you many happy miles with the car

Amazing write-up as always!

You are a professional in purchasing and pampering used Japanese vehicles. Once these cross the 10 years mark, maintaining them is possible only by people having some DIY cells in their blood. ASC's get too costly in Indian scenario.

Back in the Middle East, there are innumerable Camrys with their odo readings well above 500k kms. Yet, their mechanicals feel like new.

Our Prado has completed 11 years and 225k kms. It's the most reliable and the most loved of our fleet. I will be penning down its long term ownership review soon.

Regards

Re: 2007 Toyota Camry MT : The Never-Say-Die Car!

Hi all,
Reviving this thread to seek some help for a friend of mine here in Sangli (M.S.) on his 2008 make Camry MT.

Eventually his Camry has broken down due to Fuel Pump failure and he is in search of the entire Pump assembly with Motor.

Any leads to source the part either new one or from any scrapped vehicle, would help him a lot to revive his beloved car.

Please find attached the pics for reference.

Thanks in advance,

Seeing this late, Doc. From the looks of it, the motor+pump in the pics (encased in the plastic housing) looks a little small. However, no harm in getting a normal pump+motor for around 1200 bucks and see if that can sit in this housing. If it does, just couple the coupler to the new motor, connect the discharge hose, and suction strainer, and it should work. Please refer to this post (My 2012 Chevrolet Spark : A Comprehensive Review) for pictures as reference.

Thanks vigsom for showing interest & responding. It's Motor+Pump as you noticed it correctly & the motor also is a small one.

After a lot of efforts & communication with many vendors, finally the correct genuine spare has been sourced now. The Camry being originally an imported one, my friend wasn't ready to take any risk with repair work.
The car would soon be ready to hit the road.

Thanks again
