hay guys

tell me one thing.. lights goes off when i take the keys off my car [santro]. i thought this a good feature. this saves your battery life as well by putting the lights off when the car is off.

is that in maruti the lights are on with keys off.... i guess thats not so good any ways

Now the hood closes properly even if you leave it from a short distance.
Thanks Gopi. I dropped it from halfway and it properly locked itself this time! This has solved my locking problem too, now it is a single beep as always.

I checked with the dealer. He says the bumper (black in color) costs Rs. 2560 and another 2000 odd rupees for recoloring it to red, puttogether the cost would come to Rs. 5400!! This is taken care by the insurance, but I want to know is it advisable to go for insurance now (I just took the vehicle 2 weeks back)?? Will it affect the premium? Thanks.

Very True @kick throttle. I initially found this funny that My Alto did not do so. Now, its actually Shocking that my SX4 does not do this as well!

I recollect that my Volkswagen Jetta used to turn off headlights and switch to parking lights even if i applied hand brakes.

Ford / GM owners, what about your cars?

There are 3 positions for light, On, Off and door. If you keep in door position, it is on when doors are opened and is off when closed (or after timeout) automatically. I guess you all are talking about this, not headlights. I guess most cars have this feature irrespective of segment.

I claimed insurance for damages in a month, I can't help it. But generally I heard that no-claim bonus is not huge and premium won't go up much if you claim. May be you should ask in insurance forum.

i transfered my ncb from old car to my nhc i saved 11000 as ncb and i got 4500 refund from insurance as i sold my old car and on pro-rata basis for the balance period i.e from sept to febuary08

@Sathya, I guess the talk was about the beeps we hear on leaving the head lights on and remove the key ring? Then it went on to why does the headlight even stay on when the key is removed when cars like Santro switch them off automatically when the keys are removed.

Yeah..I was talking about the headlights...

It will be useful in case you want to keep the lights on when you have turned off the engine..

TIA guys!
When you press lock button on remote, if all the doors are shut closed properly it will beep once. If someone is still getting out of the car, then the door is open, and when you press lock on the remote, it will beep thrice and when the door is shut properly the car is locked.

So when it beeps thrice you neeed to check if all the doors are closed properly. Once you close the door all doors are locked and you will not hear beeps further.

You mean, put on the parking lights and leave the car parked and locked? What is the reason to put on the parking lights and leave the car? I will never do that!

I used to park the car with parking lights on and locked, when I used to purchase and return in short duration. The light is useful when there is minimal road light so that other vehicles coming behind can see the car.

Some of the Spare parts cost for SX4 is less compared to Swift.
Fuel Filter, Brake shoe, Brake Pad are cheaper.

Only when you need to park the car one-road sides on nights were streetlights are not present.(not the overnight parking) At least most of us in Kerala need and used to do it.

i am so sorry my friend sathya, but i guess we were talking about the headlights and not the cabin light. well all cars have the "ON,DOORS,OFF" modes on the cabin lights. and as its directly connected to the batter, the keys "in or out" makes no diffrence at all ....
