Anshurao, That uneven wear is almost certainly due to incorrect camber. Unfortunately, the Swift comes with fixed camber and therefore regular adjustment of that is ruled out. The 2 options available are: 1. Go to Basha Wheel Alignment - near Thom's Bakery. Meet with the gentlemen called Aman Basha (9342828093 - dont know if its obsolete)- and he'll have your front left suspension removed and centered to take care of the problem. No references needed. OR 2. Replace that front left suspension with a new piece from Maruti. I had a similar problem of uneven wear on both my left tyres- they were wearing out only on the outside while the right-side tyres were fine. Maruti did a thorough (as much as their capabilities allowed) checkup of the suspension and couldnt find the reason. Nor did regular wheel alignment centers. This took care of the issue permanently. Vasu of SAG put me onto Aman Basha. |

Should I go for the Bridgestone or Michelin 185/70 R14, searched around the blogs in Team BHP quite a bit and never got a definitive answer? Any suggestions? |

@mag: you mean Maruti couldnt figure out the incorrect camber reading? Or didnt even bother to check? |

For such issues first thing to do is to take a reading of the wheel alignment, with a proper machine, which records all these angles instead of visually ogling at the bottom! |

Jaggu, first of all, Congrats for having such a beautiful thread on swift VDi. This is one single thread which helped me knowing everything required to be done for my swift VDi. :) I have 2 questions. 1. If I switch on the A/C, irrespective of the blower speed, will the fuel consumed be the same. I mean to ask is the the same fuel which will be used on blower speed 1, 2, 3 & 4 with A/C or will fuel consumption go up with each blower speed, best FE with speed 1? 2. I usually switch on the A/C at speed 1. Being really chilling at night, I used to switch off A/C after 5-10 mins and run with blower alone till the cooling is over and used to switch on again for 5-10 mins though out the drive. My friend told me that this process might damage the condenser. :Shockked: Is that true? He also said its better to have the A/C cooling level set to low levels [the nobe which will change A/C to heater] and then have the A/C on for the entire trip. |

Another thing I noticed yesterday is that the car is emitting black smoke even when idling. What could be the reason? I filled normal diesel from my regular IOC pump(Civil Supplies).Or is it due to overfilling of engine oil? Cheers Dilip Kumar.V |
