Had been to RNS, connected Tech2 and it shown an error code "No signal from immobilizer module" there was one more error code, but before I could read that, guy cleared it off.

Wait for sometime and see if the lights pops up, this time get the scanner and ensure you check out the error codes proper.

Have done 4o,ooo on my sliver ddis swift...one of the tyres has become redundant. Looking to buy a new one...which one should I go for? Please dont suggest JK tyre...am not very impressed with it.

If its stock steel rims stick with 185-70-14 size and you can try Continental, Yokohama, Michellin, Bridgestone or Appolo tyres. All are better that stock JK's.

I gave my swift vdi for 2nd servicing. And the servicing cost came out to be just Rs. 50/-. No oil change was done this time around, only checkup was done. Is this a regular thing in 2nd servicing ?

Yup its normal.

On a serious note, there are differing views on the forum about the frequency of an oil change. Some recommend 5k, others follow the MUL recommendation of 10k.

I follow 5k interval for my car, though 10k is also fine.

They tend to do a quick change of Oil - given the rush of vehicles for servicing.

Excess Oil flows is known to flow into Turbo affecting intercooler.

Yup always double check the levels the next day morning before starting, just to confirm.

Do they not flush the engine out? Surely they should?

Nope they dont and engine flush is not required every 5 or 10k kms, 20k kms is good enough.

please:Guys,

Both the brake lights on my Swift VDI has stopped working. I strongly suspect its the fuse. There are 2 fuseboxes for the Swift. One under the driver side dashboard and one inside the engine compartment. I am unable to locate the fusebox in the engine compartment which is the fuse location for the Brake light. The user manual only mentions about the location of the dashboard fusebox. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated!!!

The engine bay fuse box is a pain to access, it sits behind the battery. So first you have to remove the battery and then access it. Be careful that you dont drop anything inside the box while checking the fuse, since access with hands can be tricky.

But i think the light fuse sits inside the cabin, open the box and check, it will have the marking on the fuse box cover. Also check if the brake lights switch is working and the wire attached properly.

Hi Guys,

Last few days my car is behaving strangely, This happens only in the morning. When I start the car in the morning and drive out in 1st gear, as I release the clutch the car starts to jerk as if the clutch is slipping. Once the car gets moving this problem disappears and is never heard of till the next day.

Note: The engine is warmed up for at least 2 minutes before I move on and This problem isn't observed in reverse gear.

That makes the two of us.

Delo400 every 5000 kms.

How much has the car done? and how do you know its clutch slipping?

Unfortunately you dont have much to play around with, you can try bleeding the clutch circuit to see if the jerks reduce. But if the clutch is slipping then that means you have to open and check if the plate is gone or if the pressure plates are faulty.

Hey Jaggu, car has done 70K kms, I was just suspecting the clutch. If i were to explain it, car goes thud, thud, thud. It jerks all the way till i release the clutch.

Clutch is weak, but that doesnt mean its slipping. So first thing try the bleeding trick, if it works great.

Yep, will have that done this weekend, hope it solves the problem. Thanks!

I also heard from M A S S mechanics about some gearbox trouble people are having on Swift. Personally I have never seen any Swift with a gearbox problem. As to their opinion and cure, they have started using some synthetic oil in all of the swift at recommended services.

There were few cases of gearbox issues reported, mostly synchronizer issues. Synthetic oil might not really cure this.

:deadhorse mine had a problem, low speed ratios were changed along with a lot of other things in the gearbox. My dad says that the car drives perfectly now minus any sticking/hard shifting or any other faults. I can confirm only after I am back to India in 2 months.

My best friend who stays in my building and has a 30 thousand km run swift diesel says drove the car for 30 kilometers and said that everything is perfect now.

Phew took a lot of visits by me and then by my dad along with my friend to make the guys acknowledge the problem and sort the problem out.

Hi Friends

I have a Problem in my Swift VDI, I have so far clocked 21600kms and just completed 4th service, I can feel an abnormal noise while idling and when I engage the clutch noise disappears. has anyone of you come across such a problem? Is this caused by Faulty Clutch?

Please Advise.

:OT
I want to know weather to use synthetic oil on Swift Vdi or normal?
Confusion is fiat and tata are using synthetic in the same engine then why maruti is running on normal engine oil? Is it really good for engine life?

Not sure about Fiat; Tata is sticking to Mineral Engine Oil - I think Dealers Serivce Centers are using Castrol and refuse to use Self-purchased Mobil Oils. Synthetic would make sense if you are looking for performance or extreme Cold Conditions
