Tanveer the picture shows thread failure. Not head slippage due to wheel or hex spanner. Why?

Thread failure can happen if during tightning, the bolt is put on slightly sideways, and then force is applied. Many tire shops use pneumatic wrenches, so even if the bolt is put wrong, it will go in, devastating the thread

Lovely area to explore and nice cool climate helps in making an off roading experience even more rewarding. Just came over from the left side of the grassy knoll in the background to reach the limit of open area. Next was an abandoned hill track but it was so severely washed out due to rains and rock slides that one could not even walk up.


Sigh ...the exploration is almost at end with sun setting down on western horizon.

Sigh !! 1,00,000 in 24 months is LOTS of kms in 2 years span. Any particular reason you chose GV over Pajero 2 years while acquisition.

From no angle it looks like that this car has gone through so much. Kudos to you for maintaining it well. Has it gone for a repaint ever? since paint looks fine hence the question.

None. I waited for a year for GV. New Gen and much cheaper @ just under 14lac on road.

Sudev. 100k kms in 24 months is quite some driving. Your GV seems to have held up quite well considering that you put it through rally duty apart from your offroad trips n general usage.

Is it possible for you to define the cost of ownership per km. including & excluding fuel costs..?

most people dont even use their cars 30% of what you have done in the same period. So it would be really an interesting statistic.

On Tanveer's advise slime'd four running tyres. During the last outing for finding Trail Blazing route came back with air pressure low in rear left wheel. Just topped up air and it has been steady since.

So does this mean that I got a puncture and some air leaked out before slime worked and sealed the puncture? How do I find out where the puncture was?

Had lovely time doing Trail Blazing. Just outside of Delhi the total distance was less that 30 kms out of which 8kms were off road trail.

From the base we fanned out to attempt various challenges. Hill climb. Rocky trail driving and Sand slopes.

Sorry no pictures of the GV from today with me. Have already posted pictures from the recce. The outing included lunch under a thick grove of trees out in the open.

Okay this may not be exact but at 100000 kms :
Spent on fuel Rs458181 ---> Rs4.58/km
Spent on maint Rs148254 --> Rs1.48/km

Total running cost --> Rs6.06/km

While maint. expenses only include 4 tyres (~Rs27000) I got and additional 4 free ;-) On the other had it also includes improvements like Engine guard ~9000 & GPS Vehicle tracker ~15000. So the total can be taken to include two set of tyre changes. The latest was Rs2000 spent on SLIME treatment for off roading pleasure.

Oh and the above maint. also includes the non-covered portion of two insurance claims that happened.

So not a bad vehicle with cost @Rs6/km. Just imagine even if I rented a Indica cab I would be paying higher amount per kilometre for vastly lower pleasure quotient!!

Sudev, thats not quite accurate -you do know that the actual running costs also include cost of the car and depreciation as well.

but nothing beats off roading in your superbly maintained GV .. so keep driving and exploring !
