Oh well the last few months have been kind of low on driving. I have barely added 11000kms in this period out of which 2500 were in the last week itself. A trip to Ludhiana and back, another trip to Jallandhar and two trips to Jaipur. The last included some off roading for Trail Blazing #3 and Road book check for Desert Storm.

Going to send the GV for service tomorrow or day after. No major complaints and only routine. It is boring to write a long term ownership report when there is nothing to report.

Exactly, my GV is due for the routine service and I am still scratching my head for problems to report. So far I can only think of some odd rattle behind the dashboard while going uphill in a uneven road.
@Samurai: Exactly.
Only other thing is I am going to ask the A.S.S. to open all tyres and remove "slime" from them. I find that at high speed (100+ kmph) driving there is a shake on the steering wheel. Others had told me that slime is good treatment if you are driving a slower speeds.
PS: Mod the thread title to report at 111000kms?
Sudev, it would be good if you could mention the /km service costs(excluding tires and accidental damage).
For example
1. For first 20,000kms
2. For 20-50000kms
3. 50-100K etc.,

Just a quick update:
Odo is at 120000 kms. Been kind of slow on travel in the last few months but then in last one month it has done almost 10000 kms including 3500+ for the Desert Storm 2010 duties.
Before the Storm went for Trail Blazing (see thread elsewhere) and here are couple of shots attempting a sand embankment:
Went over without any fuss or low lock selection just kept on to regular Hi No Lock position.

its available in Dubai - but it seems too small on the road jostling for space with the humongous vehicles!

Personally I would stick to pick and choose amongst the local fare on offer and not importing. Arranging spares etc are PITA later on.

In short - NO
Leh shortcuts? No way without low range gear selection. So even Tuscon with 4x4 drive will not be able to make it without some serious clutch burn. I would not want to take a chance. Same for dunes etc. Serious 4x4's get struck what to talk of soft-roaders!!

In case of GV the firmness of ride plus very little body roll plus all wheel drive option makes it a great one for taking high speed curves. (Reason why Fortuner scores low in my book and Forestor scores highest). I done high speed curves and manoeuvres that I would not do in a car with GV especially when it means having to go off tarmac on to slippery/dusty shoulders due t steady footprint offered by permanent 4x4.
But a sedan is a sedan. Get a teat drive and find out yourself.

As I said in my morning post. No car is complete. None. Would Ferrari be complete if it had a oil burner? Although Porsche Cayenne comes pretty close. So there. And if oil burner option is due to economy then you are compromising any case between your desire and your pocket.
As far as low end torque is concerned it is always vote for oil burners but vibrations and higher speeds are a compromise.
Wow sudev, 1.2 lakh kilometers and still going. Any plans to upgrade to the 2.4 or another car soon? Or are you gonna keep this one as long as you possibly can?
@McLaren Rules: Right now plans are to keep this for 5 years. So am just about at half way mark. Engine and body looking strong for the journey ;-)

Your car looks good, and it is easy to understand that it is treating you the way, you are treating the car.

Price is matter of buyer and seller. I am not yet a seller.
I know some one recently brought a second hand 2008GV at ~10lacs. The best time to buy the 2.0lts GV was just after launch of 2.4lts one last year when some people got a bargain at ~8lacs. But prices have recovered quite a bit as availability of new GV is poor.
