Tifosil,

I get 9 to 9.5 KMPL in city..with AC on all the time..peak hour bumper to bumper traffic , 50% of the time in Blr . I use Standard diesel from BP or Indian Oil. Shell diesel will drop the mileage by 1 - 1.5 kmpl.. dont know why !!

In highways the best I have got is 14.5 kmpl..possible when you cruise between 80 - 100 kmph , in 5 th gear ( translates to 2000 - 2500 rpm ) ..ofcourse it is very difficult to drive like that and with a heavier foot , my highway mileage drops to 12 - 13 kmpl..

not bad for such a heavy beast IMO !!

P>S> My Scorpio is not CRDe

OT: Actually, this seems to be better way to get the balancing done. Cost is about the same. Had to go twice to get my balancing corrected after my latest A.S.S balancing. And if I add the cost of going back for the correction, my local W.A centre works out much better.

W12, thanks for that point abt the mileage drop with Shell - I recently had to make-do with non-shell diesel, and I seemed to get a little better FE. After that run with non-shell diesel, I got a top-up at VM rd Shell, but the FE doesnt seem that good. Was kind of feeling a let down with the FE, but your observation has given me something to work on.

I too have a non-CRDe 2005 truck and have had similar experiences with the Shell diesel.... mileage drops about 1 - 1.5 KM. Otherwise with normal diesel from Nagpal's BP bunk on Residency road (opp to Imperial hotel) the truck consistently returns 11-11.5 in Bangalore city (with about 50-60% AC). On high-way the truck has returned 15.6Kmpl with speeds of 90-100Kmph. Since then I've been using only normal diesel and fill hi-speed once in 5 refills (just to give the truck some good fuel)

Where do you guys get your w/a,w/b done?

Madhav,

Tyre professionals , on RV road, opp. Shanti Sagar , near Southend circle, Jayanagar is worth a try for w/a . w/b and tyres.

I dont think there exists a K&N filter (my knowledge is very limited). All i remember is visiting some site of indian distributor of k & n and there is no mention abt scorpio.

heya all,

Recently drove a brand new red scorpio crde , fully loaded, of my friend for around a 1000 kms on highways and city mix. Was really impressed with the engine performance! and the suspensions, awesome! they were like - a bit bouncy, but u never feel any jerks, jus flies over ditches and bumps!

Even in the top end they lack ABS, and Electric side mirrors. Very big letdown! but rest all was very good with the Scorpio! really enjoyed the ride. Far better compared to the 2 years of my scorpio ownership exp in the past.

21,000 kms update - a quick update

Car came back from fourth free service yesterday. Absolute no issues this time. Charged 1960 for service. Changed all oils and air filter.

Total cumulative cost of service - Rs.3799
No. of visits to service centre - 6 times (apart from the periodic free service, i took the car twice to the service centre, once to get EGR rectified and the other time to get the rear suspension lubricated).

I am extremely happy with my truck and the engine is solid and still feels like brand new.

regards
tifosi.

Should I really buy a Scorpio ?

Dude, with the number of problems that you have listed down and the number of times you have visited, I would never go for Scorpio. Infact I feel that my Fiat Palio much more problem-free than Scorpio !! I visit the Showroom every 6 months .. that too because the car should be serviced once in 6 months !!

I thought Fiat was bad .. Now I feel Fiat is much much better than Mahindra ...

i think you have misunderstood me. I have visited the service centre 6 times, of which 4 are for regular service, the rest two for the minor issues mentioned above.

I suggest you go with Innova Diesel, I own Petrol one because I liked it.

Its simply best car even compared with 12+lac budget.

Regards,

Ravi.
