Actually he's an expat, a MBA from Harvard, and the MD of a Multi Billion $ Venture Capital firm. He didn't call me himself, rather he made his secretary with a Sexy voice call me up
Maybe I'll take her for a ride on the Camry, and get her as a Bonus add-on....

Aside - I just hope my wife doesnt read this....or i'll be out of the house and sleeping in the Camry.

Mayank, there is always a little risk in buying a Pre-Owned Car from an unknown person. That's the reason most people buy new cars.
I think the person is reliable, we both were just trying to rule out the risk as much as we can.

Re: Pre-Owned Toyota Camry, New Shape - Help me buy one.

Hi,

Anybody can give me ideas on what all to take with the car.
Anybody got any idea how many original keys the Camry comes with ?
And I guess I will ask for the Owners Manual and Service Book.
Anything else I need to take ?

The Insurance of the car is with Reliance General Insurance
I spoke to them, and they tell me that the insurance can be transferred to my name after the RC is transferred.
They tell me that I will have to pay a small transfer fees, and also the total No Claim Bonus that was given to the previous owner for the current policy. This seems very unfair, but I guess that is how the Insurance Companies work.
I have Insurance for my other cars with ICICI Lombard, and I am getting No Claim Bonus of 50% on these, as I have never made a claim. I remember while switching insurers they do transfer the No-Claim Bonus from the previous insurance company, so will this not be applicable in my case of transfer too ?

Thanks all for your support.
Styler

Re: Pre-Owned Toyota Camry, New Shape - Help me buy one.

Hey Styler, congrats on your new purchase! Looking forward to see an ownership review soon!

Keys, Owner's manual, Service booklet, all the required transfer papers, insurance and a delivery note! That is what you will need to procure from the previous owner.

You can ask owner about the keys! My guess would be 3 keys for Camry, two keys with transponder and one valet key!

Good luck for your coming weekend! Its going to be a real good one, I presume!

Re: Pre-Owned Toyota Camry, New Shape - Help me buy one.

Okay,
The Registration has been transferred to my name without a problem. I have got the RC Card.
Still struggling to get the insurance done. For a fresh insurance I have quotations Ranging from 23,000 to 40,000 . Still have to decided.

Re: Pre-Owned Toyota Camry, New Shape - Help me buy one.

look for ones which have maximum tieups for cashless services.
and which havent been in the news for the wrong reasons.
first stop, TBHP store, next stop, toyota a**?

btw, where are you in delhi?
those buildings looked familiar, mayur vihar or the likes.

Re: Pre-Owned Toyota Camry, New Shape - Help me buy one.

Hi Styler ,

If I remember correctly I had read a post by THE YETI about the insurance that he had taken for his Skoda Superb which entitled him to 100% cash back in case of an accident . No 50% on plastics and stuff . I tried to search but didnt find it . You might wanna consider that , because this being a luxury car and the parts being expensive an insurance like that will be handy .

A few years ago when I was in Dubai I used to drive a Camry Grande 3.6 . These machines are really heavy but on highways these are like air cusions , super stable . Much better than the accords (no offence to accord owners )

Re: Pre-Owned Toyota Camry, New Shape - Help me buy one.

@gautamkhadse- that's called "zero depreciation" insurance- premium is about 25% higher than your regular comprehensive. I think with all the rear-ends and bumper crashes we have these days, it's a worthwhile investment.

@Styler- your new car looks divine! There is something about the Camry that is so alluring. How did you get your RC smart card so quickly- here it takes a couple of months to arrive!
