Accessories for Palio 1.6?

Hi guys,

I am planning to book a Palio 1.6 soon. Had the following questions on add-ons for the car. Hope you can help me out. Doesn't entirely fit into ICE section, but...

1. I was thinking of getting keyless entry/remote central lock done for the car. The dealer recommends not to tamper with the OEM key based security system. He told me that he needs to send a mail to Fiat and get their approval before this can be done. Have you known of any issues with a remote central lock on Palio 1.6?

2. I have gone through the car audio section. As told in the 'commandments', I am completely lost.

Given a budget of 10-15k, what car audio system will work for Palio 1.6? It should be able to cater to both high frequency and low frequency sounds - with my limited knowledge, I guess I would need a tweeter. Any suggestions

Thanks,
Anand

hey there..
i thought fiat stopped maufacturing the 1.6!! anywayz great choice.. i have the 1.6 gtx n its a really powerful hatch. ive got silicon central locking/auto cop installed in my car, and its working fine. i suggest u try this new co called xenos, heard they are pretty good.

for the ice i suggest jbl components in the front, jbl oval speakers in the rear (ps for the comps + rears go for the GTO series not the CS series)..
a nice 400w amp to power ur comps + rear ovals. u cud have a sub in a sealed box in the rear.. powered by a 300w amp or so.. thats shud b a decent setup for ur palio.. the palio has a great boot for a nice ICE setup...
headunit, any pioneer u like..
ps if u have a budget of 10-15 k skip the sub + the additional amp.. dont put comps..jus regualr front speakers..

~cheers

Ash,

Thanks for the response.

Palio 1.6 GTX is now called as 1.6 Sports. And yes, I am excited about it

What would be the cost of JBL front speakers+JBL oval rears+amp? The car does have support for tweeters - I like instrumentals - so this may be required? Any idea about the final cost? Do you have a recommendation for a Pioneer headunit?

Regards,
Anand

Tweeters wht? You wont need it. Try a local JBL showroom. And check out the compos too.

Are you buying the Palio from a Tata dealership? Please post your view of their service.

Hi nandab,

I have the following configuration in my Palio and for the price i paid, its very decent quality of music.

Pioneer DEH7750 (Head unit) Rs.9000 + JBL GTO636e(rear oval speakers) Rs. 3750 + Blaupunkt 5 1/4" (front door speaker) Rs.1900 + Special wooden plank Rs.500

Total cost = Rs.15300 including labor. Remember Palio 1.6 has a factory fitted wiring. If you want to cut down cost further, pioneer head unit DEH 5750 would cut your costs by about 1k. I bought my stuff at Car Stop @ Mission Road.

It costs 4.68 L ex-sh and 5.34 L on-road in Bangalore. This is from a Tata-Fiat dealer. I guess the price is the same all over India.

Yes, I am. I have started the proceedings from my company. So far, the Tata motors dealer here (Concorde, Bangalore) have always seemed interested in selling a Palio. There was not a single alternative suggestion for a Tata car. Their selling point is Tata servicing and nothing much besides
[ understandable given the product ]

Let me give you an update after I get the delivery of car.

Hey, I stand to corect you on the price statement --- In Delhi the car is for 4.58 ( ex showroom ) and 4.98 (OR) plus they giving a 7K dealer discount . So its way cheaper than Bangalore ....

Pls give us a first hand review on the new machine ....

Cheers

PS -- Hope you went in for the yellow and not the Red !!!

ICE 4 Palio

hi,

my configuration,( credit goes to JK Das for his whole hearted help)

pioneer 3750
+ JBL 5.5 incher in the front
JBL 6x9 ovals(300w) GT series in the rear.

total cost 14000(approx) + 100 fitting.

No need to go for tweeters.the whole set up is fine till volume level is 35.

ovals cant handle the full volume output from the head unit.
up to 35, the speakers r good, but after that they trembles a lot...(full volume is 50 and i've nt tried tat as i love my JBLs )

the 5.5 inchers stay kool even after volume level of 35.

PLEASE GO FOR THE WOODEN PARCEL TRAY , else there wil be a 'thud' in every gutter.
OE tray cant handle the ovals efficiently.

Also the FIAT OE parcel tray is a rare stuff.

If u still need some more bass, get a vented box for the ovals.
I've designed a vented box for my rear ovals(GTO936e).
havent installed.(still in papers).
If u r getting JBL ovals ,do PM me. i can share the box specifications.

Drive safe

My Palio has the following specs with relation to audio set up.

Before that I wanna say a BIG THANK YOU to the following people who helped me decide on my audio set up.
1.SAM KAPASI
2.NAVIN
3.GUNBIR
And all Team bhp guys who give their valuable inputs related to car audio set up, I did a detailed search on all previous threads before finalising my set up, believe me it took me one week to go through all the posts, lots of info here.

My setup.
Head unit : Sony CDX-F7710S-52W*4,4 Volt F/R/SUB Preamp outputs w/ HPF/LPF
Rear Speakers : 6*9 oval JBL GTO936e
Front speakers : 4" JBL CS2104
Woofer : 12" Sony XSL122P5, 1200 watts
Amplifier : Sony 500 watts XM504, 4 channel.
Wires : JBL audio wire set
Wooden thick ply wood(Rs600) and finally installation (Rs500) , total cost Rs.25961

Please note that the amplifier, head unit and sub woofer was purchased from Dubai, so got it a bit cheap.

Cheers...Major
