Can the Cup Console in Newer Zens be fitted onto the Old ones

Hello,
Has any one tried fitting the cup console that is available in the new Zen onto the old Zen(Jellybean ones)?

I saw that the screws that hold it together are the same and they are in the same position, but I did not get convincing reply from RNS technicians as to why it wont fit.

Can someone help please.I want to fit it on my 2002 mpfi lxi and 98 vx Zen's.

Raghuram.

Yes you can do this,
infact ive fitted the console in my old Zen..
THe console costs around 200 rupees...You also need to buy a floor mounting bracket..(around 30 rupees) you'll have to take off the current gear lever plastic surround, remove the floor bracket and replace it with the new wider one......

The problem though is that, the screw holes in your floorboard won't match the holes in the new console, so you will have to drill 2 new holes in the floor or else just one but then the alignment wont be perfect, slightly skewed to one side

One more small query. Is it possible to have new look tail light & head lights in Old zen ? New look zen has so good looking tail light,

Can I fix them on old model ?

since the shape is different, i think you'll also have to change the hatch....... unless someone finds some other jugaad

yes i have also fitted the cup console in my old zen, but the rubber part of the gear shift remains loose inside as the new zen comes with a rexine cover , you can stick it with stickfast

Can someone post some pictures.Suhail said that a bigger bracket is needed.Did all you have to do the same?
I havent had a chance to try this out yet - but will do very soon.

Hello,

I have fitted the new console boxfor my old ZEN2001 by the RNS, changing the bracket's but i avioded the drilling the new holes, but it will be fitted with 2 screws for existing holes.

i too have in my car right from the day the new zen was launched ....one of the holes does not match ...but no problems as such ...and no ..i dont have to use any glue

Thanks - The problem is none of the dealers are having it.I tried mandovi , bimal and RNS.
They said they will call once it comes - but no phone yet.I think I have to go again and check it out.
