Thanks for the info. But this app is useless ! Crashed 6/8 times on my iPhone 4S. Inspire of using google maps , it was unable to locate major landmarks when I tried to navigate from Electronic City , Bangalore.

Uninstalled immediately

Re: Aftermarket Head-Up Display (HUD Add-ons & Mobile Apps)

I am using this app for sometime now in my Nexus 4. I find it pretty fancy during night drives. The speedo HUD display is good, but the navigational feature isnt that user friendly.

Planning to check it my tablet once its repair is done.

Heads Up Display 'Navdy' for ANY car!

I was surfing the net, when I saw this advertisement of 'Navdy'
On opening https://www.navdy.com, I was surprised and excited. It's basically a heads up display for any car anywhere in the world that supports your phones apps including navigation, calls etc and is connected to your car through the OBD 2 port.

I am seriously considering this for my Ecosport

Any suggestions?

I am searching for a HUD myself. I tried this with my phone - works well when cloudy and in dusk.

These will be stolen in no time . They are right up there above the speedo cluster and easily seen. Excellent gadget though.

Seems to be a pretty useful gadget especially with Android and iPhone connectivity. Investment would be worth it as it doesn't have to stay in just one car and could be carried on to any car you are driving.

re: Heads Up Display 'Navdy' for ANY car!

Have already pre-ordered one!
How could I not, after the guy put a call from his Mom on the promo-video.

I contacted the Navdy guys and they say that there should be OBD II compatibility issues. Significant functionality without the vehicle data also. And it can charge from a 12V/USB supply.

I also got one of these: https://www.automatic.com
As an early backer I did not read the fine print about VIN Authentication.
So did not work with my Swift. Am planning to use with my (upcoming) GT TSI.

I meant to type that there should _not_ be OBD II compatibility issues.
Apologies!

Interesting! Hoping for personal reviews from one of you soon.

This could prove to be very convenient. Personally, i hate attaching the phone on the glass with any sort of holders, and I need to also take my eyes off the road when looking for navigation info.

=> After checking out www.automatic.com, i found the product really interesting but they have mentioned on their website that Automatic is only available in the U.S right now and they are working hard to support other countries!

So how do you think that this product will work on your upcoming GT TSI??

re: Heads Up Display 'Navdy' for ANY car!

I saw a HUD device listed in the accessory list for Tata Zest - if I recall correctly, it was not price exorbitantly too. I am waiting to see how that device works - HUD is one of the things i want to add in my car too.

re: Heads Up Display 'Navdy' for ANY car!

looks to be an awesome product, guess it doesn't always have to be displayed out, can be safely towed away when not in use. $299 is around 18k, so guess once the product comes out either the price will reduce or there will be more alternatives available. I will wait and watch.

Even I'm going to wait for it to launch first. You never know if it will work properly or not. It looks very genuine though.

re: Heads Up Display 'Navdy' for ANY car!

The Risk of buying US based products is that there is no support if it does not work as expected in india.

I will wait till HUDs become more popular (at least as popular as telematics now) before i plonk 20,000/- . The price is definetly high as "projector" does not cost that much. There was a phone for about 4-5K, which could project images/movies on a screen. This device is just the same thing, only that it interacts with the phone through bluetooth or some other mechanism.

Too high on price IMHO and its probably only for the affluent crowd. Definetly not for the middle class.

Actually I am not sure, but I know that some others have tried and succeeded. I'll keep you posted when I get the device and the machine together.

The threads on the community that have got me excited are:
https://community.automatic.com/auto...in_geolocation
https://community.automatic.com/auto...android_tablet

The tricks involve fudging the VIN numbers, and ignoring the fuel prices. Also can't use the emergency calling.
There is still a lot left.

I can't check if the fuel sensor on the GT TSI is compatible or detailed enough, since there is no equivalent American car to check on their website. My brother should be shipping back my link shortly. Will post updates.
