Benz' idea to light up the hood ornament - The illuminated Star

Mercedes is offering the illuminated star on select models including the new E-Class, the M-Class, GL-Class and CLS-Class sedans. In some cases, depending on the model year, Mercedes dealers can retrofit the LED lighting feature. Mercedes described the new illuminated star as, "Bright, but sophisticated. And it's a opportunity to announce to the world: 'This is my Mercedes-Benz!'"

What's next? Will other automakers follow the Mercedes lead when it comes to LED accents on the hood badge?

thanks

Wait until manufacturer's India focus groups decide that this is a way of portraying their brand as premium... we'll have the onslaught of backlit badges.

Having said that, I saw a white Swift today that had the Suzuki logo on the hatch backlight with a red LED. Additional LED lighting is not really my thing, but this looked pretty good, for those who are into it.

Hi mate, pan-india this logo lighting phenomena is gaining prominance. You can Cruze, Beat, City, Suzuki cars et al with backlit logos. Somehow i find it a bit loud and at times unneedful.

Thanks

Hello. Nice concept there for those who like it. But I think its a bit too loud. It will be good as an aftermarket part but not as a standard accessory. Instead should do something like logos which lit up while braking.

Very easy mod available online. Only needs splicing into the numberplate light wire. Saw a auto the other day with a backlit Suzuki logo :-)

Really? Do we think this is "sophisticated"?.
Might look unusual, but sophisticated?
