But for some Suzuki cars you have to make as per your spec. Another requirement is that its good to have an adjustable cam gear.
so do we get cams readily available in india for a 4G15 engine ?
I know "Racing performance works australia" makes cams for 4G15.. but is anyone using them in India and where these can be bought from ? and most important tuning the car for this new cam profile ..

time to bring the thread back to life!!and changing the topic a little>
my zen has done close tp 75k and has started making a tapping noise.suspected it to be tappet noise.went to the service mechanic and got it confirmed.he has told me that "camshaft kat gayee hai","rcker arms kharaab ho gaye hain".the expenditure he told me would come close to 8-10k including labour.

what i wanted to know is that does a camshaft have to be changed because i have never heard of a camshaft being replaced.if i am getting a new one do i have any other alternative? can get a different cam for the zen or can the same one be modified or profiled.experts please help me as soon as possible.

@viper:how much would a piper cam cost me??can something be done with the existing cam??
thanks .

Hi,

Have PM'd you. The original can be reground but don't know anyone in India who does it. You have 2 options buy a 2nd hand cam(around1k) or a new one which costs approx 3.5k.

Camshafts(lobes) can get worn out but not by 75k kms. Must be some other problem. Assuming what the mechanic says is correct then the estimate is also correct.

You can either send existing cam for grinding to Piper which will take approx 7-9 working days to and fro Mumbai or we buy a used cam and send to Piper so that you are not stuck without a car.
