didnt want to drill my car bumper for the reverse sensors so i installed lcd rvm with camera ,the camera is installed just above the rear no plate inbetween the lights illuminating it cost me 6,000 rs and i am very happy with it

They did a nice job in making hole on the bumper, though I was apprehensive about it.

Are you able to do "close" parking with camera. Can you really see the rear edges of bumper ?. Which make ?

I have a couple of doubts regarding these reverse sensors.

• Can they detect small objects like a sleeping dog or say 2 bricks stacked up.
• Is there a time lag between the object actually appearing and the beeper letting me know – in the sense would there be a time lag between a person carelessly walking behind my vehicle and the beeper emitting a beep?
• Are they of help for pocket parking?
• Do they work during rains?
  

Alternately do I have an option of going for aftermarket rear glass defroster and wiper? If yes how much would they cost.

I too have a reverse camera with sensors installed on my Scorpio. I'm able to do a very close and tight parking when required.

As you come closer you can't see the rear bumper edges since the camera, though having a wide angle lens is normally fitted in the center. Secondly. if you observe, that all cars' front have a curved design with the bulge in the center tapering off to the sides. So, the camera enables you to see the front bulging part thus making a tight parking easier.

I hv Magnum and getting JVC AVX33 soon. I want to get a reverse camera. Can any one suggest which is the best camera i can get at reasonable price.

Going through the earlier posts in this thread, it seems this price is pretty much reasonable, although I am not sure about the brand.

Can anyone share details of after market reverse/parking sensors (brands, cost, performance). I am not sure if these are completely dependable solutions? I mean, are they able to detect low lying things (objects/animals/protrusions etc)

There's this indian brand Xenos parking sensors which retails for less than 4k for 6 sensors. Even i'm looking to fit one.

How did you manage to install above the bumper? Can you post a pic please.

Well, I have got a 4 eye reverse sensor system with beep and distance indicator for my Swift Lxi. It cost me Rs. 4800 and it took it in Red colour.

As for the debate that seems to have been going on here abt whether these sensors are required, I will narrate one experience of mine.

When I was reversing my 800 a couple of years ago, a kitten had decided to hide behind my rear wheel after I got into my car. I suppose since it was small, it did not know that it needed to move away once the car engine had started. Not knowing about the poor feline, I reversed only to hear a pitiful meow. When I got out and checked, I saw that its lower jaw had been sheared off by my wheel. Poor thing was choking on its own blood. I tried calling the SPCA number but it was busy!!! Thankfully, the kitten died a few minutes later. I can only imagine the suffering it went through. It was a traumatic experience for me to watch this, knowing I was the cause of this and I still sometimes wake up at night with nightmares of this sight!

If I had had a sensor system then, all this could have been hopefully avoided. I hope at least this convinces the skeptics.

???? How are your reverse sensors gonna sense a small kitten behind your rear wheels?

Even a camera cannot capture an image just behind the rear wheels. It can only capture images behind the bumper on which it is fitted. A sensor, IMO, cannot even capture a dog or a divider while reversing, as it may be below the angle it 'senses'.

I just thought that maybe...maybe, the sensors would sense a small animal approaching the car, which would warn me. I may be wrong of course, given that I lack experience reversing with sensors. Just thought I would put in a word in favour of the sensors. stupid:

I have this reverse camera + LCD fitted in my car. The LCD is clamped on to the rear view mirror. It all works fine, but the only issue is the LCD/RVM shakes a lot when I'm driving because it's heavier now... Anyone face this issue? Any ideas how to fix it?

I plan to get Remote Sensors installed in my car. Dealer said he has a brand called 'Circuit I' and it costs around 4K. Any experience with that brand?

Though this is well discussed in this thread, I have few queries:
1. Can a reverse sensor have its own switch and not tied to reverse gear?
2. Does front sensors help?
3. Are just reverse sensors adequate or is reverse camera required?
4. Any recommended place in Bangalore to get installed?
