ok shan2nu am confused,now wont the water go in through the openings on the hood(the last pic that u posted).please explain again.

Yes it will. thats why i've been stressing on cold air intake than a big scoop.

or you can have those side scoops which the Astra came with. That would be more practical.

i guess a scoop will work only if you have a stock replacement filte and not the universal cone filter.otherwise the evo's,cedias would have had their filters destroyed by the water.am i right.

Sorry to disappoint guys, but the GTOs scoops are FAKE. Cosmetic purposes only.

Secondly, the term you are looking for is RAM AIR intake. Very few cars have it. I think the old Firebird, the current Viper are some examples. All the super bikes have it though.

Thridly, the so called grilles found on cars like EVO and Elise are air vents not intakes.

Below is a pic of the GTO underhood. Note location of air box. The scoops were added in a hurry last year because mags complained that the car looked bland.

hey buddy we had done a hood scoop on an esteem..it worked fairly well..no problem's with rain water or anything as such..will post pics as soon as possible..cheers..happy revvin..!!
