Why do u want to spend Rs.8.5k for the filter when U have RACTIVE conical filter and may be a customized pipe at just half of the cost with a equal performance if not higher

Contact pjspeed for filter and viper for customized pipe

Folks, Planning for Piper cross filter set for Indica Xeta, this costs 3500/- and is available at prabhadevi shop. Any indica users can concur the boost in performance and efficiency?

Hey Guys, please help me in choosing air filter for my swift. please:

I am confused about the kind of filter to choose in extreme range, whether to go for K&N or Pipercross or greencotton.
Also heard there is apollo filter from k&n, how different is it from extreme?

Have fitted my swift with a FFE (4 x 2 x 1), so would like to know which filter suits best for this.

I havent got time to do much of a research on this, so taking help from you guys.

Has anybody used K&N filters on their i10. I am planning to upgrade my i10's air filter to K&N. Could somebody who has already done it for i10 tell me whether it is really worth it?

ever since i installed the K&N filter there has been quite a drop in fuel avearge and the car now consumes more fuel than before. initially i thought that it is because of the extra power surge when one tends to rev more often.
but after almost a month of sedate driving, the fuel averages are not improving at all. i switched to the OE filters and the fuel average improved dramatically although the car seems to struggle for breath. has anyone else had this problem, i wonder?

what type of filter have you used? stock replacement or K&N apollo ?

Have you installed the original K&N , i mean did you get it installed from a known person/acquaintance?

What is the dip in the mileage 1 , 2 kmpl ? How much

Although i'm comparing apples to oranges but my Alto's mileage improved by about 1.5 kmpl after i got a original K&N installed in my ride.

A k&N filter: the air intake of the engine is increased considerably.

Now extra air volume with normal fuel volume results in leaner mixture. To compensate this, the ECU increases fuel intake which results in slight drop in FE.

This how it should be.
Increse in FE means you are burning leaner mixture.

In newer FI cars, with ECUs and sensors, we need not do this manually. but in older cars, and bikes, with carbs , it is necessary to replace the main jet by larger diameter jet, to gain performance. This increses the fuel intake and in turn results in gain in power.

regular K&N free flow filter. not the apollo type. and yes the filter was an original and was fitted at the dealership.

around 3 to 3.5kmpl. since i drive almost 50kms a day, it is a big difference.

Hi,
I moved to K&N 3 years back, and i am very happy with it. I believe all the cars should have this by default !! I am getting 1KM to 1.5KM more with K&N.

In my case, (for normal K&N in WaganR), i was able to install it by myself. It is just Open the bonnet, open the air filter box, pull out the old one, just place the K&N - that is it. u don't even need a screwdriver.

i think the reason would be as "motionfreak" said. What is your car make and model ?

dear ashlyak
this was how the K&N filter was fitted(open bonnet pop the air filter box and put it in). the car is a swift VDi.

Try to reset the car's ECU by disconnecting the battery for some time (10 min). The car's ECU needs to be reset when switching from stock to after market air filters.

How much does this K&N Filter cost for swift VDi ?
