Stiffer Coils for my S10

Hi guyz,
I had put 15 inch wheels on my palio S10 and the problem now is that the rear wheels are slightly scraping against the fenders. This happens only when there is load at the rear. I was adviced to put stiffer coil springs at the rear.
Please let me know if anyone has ever done this on a palio? Since this is not my daily ride i can always sacrifice a little on comfort (for better stability of course)

Here are some snaps of my ride. The black marks you see on the insides of the fender are where the paint had peeled off coz of this.

16v, what profile is your tyre? and what section? I have 205/50 R15s on my Palio 1.2, and I have the same problem. I've now learned to drive in such a way that this doesn't happen when I have a load in the back, but I'm interested in how to get this totally solved too.

I haven't had paint peeling off or anything as bad yet, though. Are you running 60 or 55 profiles? That must be why the tyre scrapes so often.

From the S10s and Palio 1.6s I'd seen here, the fenders are actually a bit wider than the 1.2 (with the bulges in the fenders), and upto 205s should go in with no problem (unlike the 1.2 which will give trouble with anything over 195s)

Thats a very nice looking car... Love the stripes...
What profile tires are you running?? i think 195/45 should be fair enough for the car.... since this is not your daily ride.... anyways you can try to install the yellow koni's only at the rear... may cost around 20K for a pair...

Contact Psycho. He can get you a complete suspension work done for about 15k.

Hi hydra,
Even i am getting used to driving it that way. You have to watchout for dips more than bumps on the road.
The tyre is size is the same as yours 205/50 R15. The paint peels you see are not entirely coz of the tyres, I tried bending the fenders with a round steel round (something i read in a book as a "baseball bat technique" to bend the fenders). Sadly it didnt workout and i ended up like this.

I would more than happy if i could get a pair of KONIs for my palio. In fact this was the very first option that striked me. I contacted elektra automotive at chennai but they said its not coming for palios and i would have to do some alteration and stuff for this.

Now i'm just thinking of replacing the coils alone (harder ones) which might fit into in my existing strut.

Hi Harrie, Is this guy chennai based? 15k seems to be cool, but i'd like to know more.

I find 205's to be an overkill for the Palio. The suspension is already stiff and you want to go stiffer. I would prefer to downsize my tyres for the price.

Maybe you can try springs from a Petra diesel. They could be stiffer, otherwise there is not much aftermarket support for the Palio. Here is one I found, but its 40mm lower too.
