So i wanted something better for my fog lamps as the current ones in my car have such a poor throw that without looking at the dashboard one cant even make out if they are ON or OFF. I also wanted to experiment with LEDs first on fog lamps than on main headlamps as if they did not give a good output it will be a bigger waste and making driving difficult.

The search began for some good 4300k LED bulbs, however i could not find any with the latest tiny chip based LED bulbs technology. I also did not want ones with a cooling fan at the end as they will get clogged up soon as in monsoons here the water levels go very high thanks to the poor infrastructure in the NCR. Finally settled on the fanless ones which have the lastest CSP chip based design in 6000k color. These claim to consume 25 watts each while the OEM halogen ones are 27w, although in real life these will consume under 20w.


The Grand i10 takes 881/880 type bulbs and so i ordered from here as the seller had good ratings. If you order from Aliexpress ensure you select the Aliexpress standard shipping method or the costlier ones like Fedex/DHL as else your shipment has a high chance of being lost.

After exactly 2 weeks these came to my home and no duties charged as well!
Packing was safe though could be better. I had also ordered 2 pairs of T10 LED position lamps as well which came on the same day too.



The Bulbs are high quality and have a nice thick heatsink at the back.







installation was simple and does not involve removal of bumper on my car. While installing do ensure you clean the bulbs and ensure the mechanic does not touch the bulb body. Here is a picture from about 50 metres away showing the spread as i wanted to check if it causes glare to others and there was none.

It has definitely helped in lighting up the far corners of the road on both sides and the sudden potholes are also better highlighted. Checkout the dashcam video below although the dashcam exposure settings made it look better than it is. Feel free to ask anything here about LEDs. My next lighting upgrade may be a pair of Bi-Xenon projectors.

How much you purchased it for? I went to ali express for led to replace fog lamps but did not order anything due to confusion caused by too many options.
Apart from this one do you have any more suggestions which are good for fog lamp? Thanks

These costed me 1500 total. Which bulb type you have? You can order these too from the link i posted if you okay with 6000k.

How long do these last? Is it a simple DIY install in the grandi10?

They have lasted me 7 months and counting now. Since these are low power fanless LEDs i expect them to last many more years. Yes its pretty much a DIY if you can bend down to access the fog lamp bulbs.

So is it a simple plug and play bulb replacement or is there some alignment involved too?
I mean is there any additional cable/ ballast needed to be tied down? stupid:

No alignment required as there is no alignment adjustment anyway in foglamps. Just twist the old bulb out and put these in if you can access them. I had paid 50 rs to a roadside guy to install them and it took 5 minutes. Ensure nobody touches the bulbs or gets any dirt on them while installing. No extra ballasts as well to stick anywhere as its all inbuilt.

Have you upgraded to the same bulbs in the headlamps as the throw seems pretty good. The low beam seems much stronger than factory bulbs.:thumbs up

if you referring to the pics in this thread then no those are of stock bulbs. Grand i10 has a decent throw anyway in stock. Right now i have Bi-Led projectors(pics posted in other threads).

I see you have a custom headlight setup in your car. I think it was a DIY job by yourself?

I have got myself an Elite i20 from 2014, so even the Asta trim came equipped with a reflector setup. I have got a pair of Hella projector and a HID kit. I am struggling to find a good enough installer here in Delhi. The people I see working on those, they do a pretty shoddy job in handling the equipment. I have seen them picking up the bulbs by their bare hands/smudging the reflector with dirty and greasy hands!

I see you are in Gurgaon. I was wondering whether you might know some good installers (no Autobots please), or maybe you would like to get your hands dirty again alongside me and maybe we can work on it together over a weekend? I am really very nervous going ahead with this as this is my primary vehicle and is shared by my father as well. Would not want any troubles creeping in a few years.

Yes, both my projector installs were DIY alone. I think you should not be scared of installers in Karol bagh/Lajpat etc if you supervise them. I haven't used any installer personally so cant recommend but if you search there are plenty who do this in NCR. Smudges on reflector can be cleaned off before sealing with alcohol.

Does the i20 have the H4 slots a bit offset? Check that first before venturing into DIY as that can mean a install using the 4 hole drill method. I can guide you for a DIY if you have a heat gun to open the assembly. Else you might as well spend 2k and get it installed from accessory shop. Just ensure to put in some extra silicon pouches to absorb moisture and use extra sealant to seal off the assembly.

I am very very scared by the work they do. They are not gentle at all! I have had only bad experiences with them. They work in a dusty environment, and they don't have proper tools, and they are always on a lookout for more and more customers, hence they often do a shoddy job to maintain a good enough speed so as to not loose other customers :Frustrati

Why put all those smudges in the first place? That's the thing, they take no care while handling all the equipment. A usage of simple clean rubber glove while installing does the job. They even pick up the bulbs with naked hands. I can only imagine the negative impact this has on the life of the bulbs.

I saw a video where projectors were being installed on i20 headlight, and they seemed to have simply installed it at the original location using the adapters. I am not sure what you mean by offset? I think it's a simple enough install without any drilling requirements. Even the seller told me so. I got my equipment from Blaze India.

I can arrange for a heat gun. If only you can assist me in some way for a DIY, I will go ahead and purchase it. I really want to do this, and I want to do this right the first time. I am actively searching for a professional, but they are very hard to come buy. I tried reaching out to AK Customs in Gurgaon as well, and it seems that their installer has left. Even Retro Rides has stopped doing projector jobs now.
