Team-BHP - Strut Braces for WagonR

Hi,

Would adding strut braces help in the stability of a wagonR ? I find the space left in the wagonR bonnet is very limited. Would it be feasible to fit one ?

Are the braces really required. I assume you are using the car for regular onroad use. Would you be doing a lot of crazy cornering on the car?

You need to be removing this braces each time you need to access something, especially if it comes over your air box. Trust me, its a pain and not a must have for a regular road going WagonR unless you plan to burn the track on 24th April. lol:

i am using the car for regular onroad run. Within the city does not make a difference with the amount of traffic...

while on the highway... its a pain to take the corners. i do feel a little unstable. Its not that i floor the pedal during the highway run but would prefer if the braces help me feel that my feet are down !

Just ading to this thread.. Would strut braces really reduce roll? I would like to know how much this would help in increasing the stability.

A well designed brace would certainly reduce understeer. The braces hold the two suspension struts together. When we do extreme cornering, the weight moves to one strut. When we have a brace to connect them, the weight is more or less equally distrubuted. I think this helps lot to reduce the body roll.

Please note this a very basic explaination from what I have learned interacting with engineers. Experts could help.

Bharani and 16V100, There is a dealer of Automech in chennai in Lake area, Nugambakkam. I am going there tomorrow to check feasibility for installing an exhaust system. Will check out on the braces for you.

16v it really reduce the rolling atleast it has done to my palio car turns and cornering without any rol ican relly feel the difrent

the best modification for bodyroll is putting coilovers. lower center of gravity is the best for handling. That is why SUV's don't handle well as opposed to sports cars. I also recommend to set Camber around -1 degree mark for street driving.

Could someone please explain a bit more on this. This is news to me.

Coilovers are not just struts and springs they are an adjustable system. You can adjust the Ride Height (up and down), and Damper Settings (Stiffness of suspension) on most brands of True Coilovers.

negative camber give you better handling around corners. I run about -1.8 but I track my car often. That is really aggressive for the road. Also if you can add on caster, add as much as you can as it'll give your car better stance good for traction and better control. I've set my castor at +4 degrees I know people who run +7 degrees. positive caster moves the wheels outward more towards your front bumper.

@mail4ajo: Did you check with the dealer (automech) for the feasibility of installing an exhaust system and braces for *wagon R* ?

If so, please let me know the outcome of your discussion with that dealer.
