folks,

(and gurus of engine mods and swaps)

which currently available engines can be transplanted into a dukkar fiat ??

I know the 118NE engine can. but what about something with some more juice ??? nothing obscene....just enough to cruise comfortably at around 80-90 kmph in the dukkar.

what about the amby 1.8 ISZ ??? it won't fit, will it ??? what other options ???

The Gypsy engine will be a smooth operator. Omni engine will also fit and makes the same power but wont sound as good. Other choice is the Conti 1.8.

Are you planning to keep the trans?

I second what Mpower said....although if you can find the Gypsy king engine and gearbox its a much better choice.

contessa engine will require you to either cut the firewall or extend the nose of the car. cutting the firewall is tough because the steering system sits there. however if you put in the rack and pinion box from a cielo or similar sized car that problem is solved to an extent.

the other thing you need to do when doing an engine swap is to change the differential gears to 3.8 from the 118ne (bolt-on fit) from the 4.3 that comes in the stock 1100.

Hehe.. Suddenly we have three threads running simultaneously on Fiat 1100

You can try this link

Just wait till i get my hands on a padmini with the sole intention of hybridising her.:D..(er is there such a word..??)

A toyota or Daihatsu diesel pumping out around 50-70bhp. This is the most common mod up north. If you are adventurous, you can look for somebody who has bought something like a OHC 1.3 for an engine swap, and get the gearbox along.
