"Magic Touch" Door Handles!

I was watching Overhaulin on Travel & Living the other night and they had a dodge fitted with something called "Magic Touch" which allowed one to open the doors just by touching. I did a google search and came up with LaFrance Autoworks and I quote from their website:

/QUOTE
Install Magic Touch automatic touch sensitive door handles in your ride today. With the touch of your hand your door will automatically pop open. Get the clean look of shaved door handles in less than an hour, without any body work. Magic Touch matches your car’s paint color exactly because each one is painted with factory paint. Ask your local retailer for Magic Touch.
  • Shaved door handle look without having expensive body work and painting done.
  • Can be molded into the door and made completely invisible, and it's still touch sensitive.
  • Trick effect of opening your door with just a touch of your finger.
  • Ladies, never break a nail again.
  • OEM fit; bolts right in. 30-60 min installation.
  • Comes in all factory paint colors; unpainted ones also available.
  • Works with existing keyless entry system.
QUOTE/

Does anyone know if this thing can be done in India?

I think I read about something like this in the thread of last year's bangalore speed run. On one of those 'all show, no go' lancers.

The Bangy boys will be able to give you more details.

I have seen these "touch doors"on a M.Lancer(2 door) in Mumbai..its a fully Modded lancer Blue colour with real-carbon hood,wide-body kit and awsome 17" 5zigen(matte black rims) 5 stroke and extreme Michelin Low-Profile rubber(I guess). The rides height was lowered, its Head-lights was Halo Rings type, and an awsome roaring,Muffler.Next time when i get to see it i will suerly take a pic.

Hi,

The car you are referring to is parked at Altamount Road and can be seen there.

i think mercury's concept car in detroit-auto-show-2007 had this feature, among others. and it was highlighted to an extent where it sounded like a 22nd century feature.

I had seen this thing earlier..
Looks very good..

But will they work in India..

I mean most of the times the car is touched by people walking on roads many times..
Imagine you sitting in the car and eveytime someone passes your car he touches the handles..And Magic!!! they open up...Hahaha!! how irritating can that be.,.,
But yes all things have their drawbacks..

In the end I love it..

i think it'll be too expensive and no practical use ! i guess remote opening doors are a better option!! and moreover i think it'll be a scratch magnet for sure!!
it sure sounds cool snd wouldn't mind getting it but im sure it'll be quite expensive!
