is k&n replacement better or a cold intake better?

I am planing on replacing my air filter very soon and I want to know if a k&n replacement filter makes more sense or a cold intake in hot conditions in chennai? What are the costs & mods involved. I have a 2000 sfxi lancer. Please help guys.
