Hi fellow BHPians, hope all ya and your rides are revving nice!

I have recently bought an Esteem and wanted to install a security system into the same. On contacting Maruti guys, I was told that getting it installed from outside would void warranty hence I got no option but to get a Nippon one installed from their workshop. I wanted an opinion from people who are using it on the features available in it and how's it quality and performance wise.

Simple... the OE system is as good as the one sold outside. The OE kit will have the perfect wirings for your car and the remote will say Maruti. The install will be done only by the Nippon installers. Its the same kit.

If you want to save a few bucks, get it done from outside. Else bargain with the dealer for the kit.

I feel Anti theft systems are anyhow not that secure. Try Xenos if you can.

I have a Nippon security system factory fitted on my Esteem Vxi. Till date, its been working fabulous. The only problem I had was with the remote(s) which failed on an occasion or two and I tried sorting it out by replacing the batteries. However, the problem was with the transmitter itself and I gave a call to the Nippon service guys who were at my door in no time to replace the pair of remotes with new ones - at zero cost to me. Overall, I would strongly recommend you to go for it.

I am using Nippon fitted by Maruti on my Swift since October. No problems at all. It is a bit extra sensitive. Need to get that rectified.

Question: 1. How long on an average do remote batteries last.
2.What does one do if they die out in the middle of nowhere?

You have to replace the battery atleast once in 2 years even if they are working fine. Always better to keep changing between the 2 remotes provided by the installer. I usually follow a 20 day cycle.

If they stop, just use the keys. If your model has immobiliser, it would be a problem.

yes i have the immobiliser. So now what?

I think if you try to use the keys, the engine may be immobilsed if you try to use the keys. Just use the valet mode and stop the alarm.

For more info on valet mode refer the instruction manual that came with your nippon.

All new maruti vehicles are equipped with immobilizer & most of them have central locking feature also.
Kindly tell me what other features are provided by remote central locking? After taking delivery of Swift Vdi, I wanted to install remote locking but sales guy told me that most of the features are already there in VDi.

if u go for a higher end theft security system, they offer many more features.
some of them are
1. body sensors.
2. gate open sensors.
3. HU pull up sensors.
4. immobilizers.

@vicky: What about Impact Sensors, did you check about that?

Hi mail4ajo, if I get it installed from outside, would it void my warranty? I had a chat with an accessory shop guy (he was giving me 20% discount) and he told me that the installation would be done by Nippon guys only, but I am still a bit unsure.
