wheel & tyre upgrade for Innova

Hi Guys,

Its almost time to change the tyres on my Innova and was looking to go a bit wider. Maybe 225's from the original 205's.

I have been given options of 225/60/15, 225/60/16 and 225/55/16.

225/60/16 is a 4.4% increase in the height of the tyre, which I think is too much.

Do any of you guys have any experience in upsizing in the Innova? Which size did you go for?

What are the effects if any in handling?

There was a discussion for upsizing in this thread but it wasn't about upsizing the rims.

Right now i have hankook ( will change soon ) 225/60/R15 on stock V alloys.

Do you want to go for alloys ? or you want to upgrade tyres only ?

Have a look here.

225/60 r15 is fine.

if you want to upsize your rims too then get 225/50 r16 or 225/45 r17.

i have the stock 205/65 r15 on my innova with potenza g3s and i think there is adequate grip.

I agree what akshay1234 say, If you want to stick to stock 205/65 R15 size you can use same RIM (6inch) or buy Alloys(6 or 6.5 inch).

Today saw one Aura 15inch alloy new design with 6inch as width. Guy said 22,000/- for set of 5 alloys with 1 year warranty.

205/65 R15 , 225/60 R15 are good tyres for Innova, upsize of tyre size like 16 and 17inches few people did it but its not advisable for Innova. This is what many people told me.

So when time comes for upgrade I would either buy 205/65 R15 or 225/60 R15 on stock RIM or might buy Alloy of 15inch and width of 6 or 6.5 inch.

Regards,

Ravi.

You are right about Aura thats why I baught League alloys on Swift, I liked one new design from aura which is 15inch and 6JJ in width. Thats one among I short listed. I am sure I can maintain it well so I am searching for good white alloys as well. I have short listed plati, HR, League as well.

Ravi.

We recently (2 weeks back) upgraded Innova's tyre from 205/65 R15 to 225/60 R15 Acelere. Rims are stock alloys - 15". Innova was taken out on a long trip (NH-48) and we faced no problems. Even full lock turns cause no problems and we are maintaining the tyre pressure 2 psi above manufacturer's recomendation. The tyres are surefooted and grippy and the ride is very good.

I do have seen Innova's with 16" / 18" wheels but dread the ride with a low profile tyre in our conditions.

Innova is a MUV. ride and handling both need to looked with this fact in mind.
So, please stick to 15" rims with max 225x60 size. though IMO 205/65 are very good enough.

Innova handles best with OE alloys. Get a 225/60/15 setup like ive done on my innova. Getting a lower profile tyre on a MUV like the Inove will give you ride quality problems. The Innove is built to carry people and loads so dont mess with the 60 profile. Check this thread, Moralfibre has already given a link to it in his previous post but here it is again.

I also second Scooby's opinion of running 15''ers only and further feel that the OE rims are the best as they are factory calibrated for a car. IMO, stick to a tried and tested upgrade and only upgrade the tyres if your Innovas running on OE mags, or else get the OE mags from your trusted rimwalla, you'll find a dime a dozen OE rims in brand new condition from cars that got a rim upgrade.

Thanks for good response guys.

When I checked received same feedback, For Innova tyre should be in between 205/65 R15 and 225/60 R15. As akshay said its better either Michillins or Bridgestone.

Stock Alloy works great with Innova because its tried and tested. We can go with other alloys as well need to make sure width and offset evrrything matches.

I liked alloys from this site. Apollo Tyres Ltd. :: Products :: Acelere Wheelz

If someone can address please whats Hyper Silver and Full Polish/Silver Alloys? I saw these words in the appolotyres website.

I guess now BikerSG has good response so he can choose right tyre and alloy/rim.

Regards,

Ravi.
