Tuning new life into my 9-year old BMW F30 320d | TuneOTronics remap

The Plan

I am a proud owner of a 2013 Manufactured BMW F30 320d. I am in Kolkata so the vendors for car modifications are limited.

My vehicle hasnt covered too many kilometers since I get time to drive it only once a week or so. Every additional year my car ages, the itch to upgrade gets stronger. But rising car prices and quickly evolving EV Tech keeps me from pulling the trigger on a new purchase.

In early 2022 order to push the upgrade another year (or two), I decided to get my cars ecu tuned. I spoke to a few of the tuners in Kolkata but I did not find them confidence inspiring and hence I chose to not proceed.

I then got in touch with Vivek @ TuneOTronics for my needs. Things just felt right. He was clear and logical but was in Bangalore. I planned to remove my ecu and courier it to him, but a part of me was apprenhensive in damaging my car during removal / re installation.

The Execution

Fast forward to late 2022, I found out that TuneOTronics had partnered with a local Vendor in Kolkata, P26 Motoperformance. They could now remote tune vehicles without removal of the ECU.

So in November I finally set a date and went for it! Rishabh from P26 Motoperformance showed up at my residence with all his tools and laptop. Checked the car for any errors, and then emailed the ECU file to TuneOTronics.

Within 30 mins, a return email was received and the modified file was uploaded to the car. No errors, zero drama. The car was tuned to Stage 1+ with a custom map.

The Result

The evil grin while driving the car has returned. I am not saying its an all new car, but its significantly angrier and quicker. The mid range is mental, and the car is way more fun in Sport Mode now!

The draggy timing is attached, but I have geniunely no idea if this result is good or bad. All I know that my car upgrade is deferred successfully again.

Hi Abhi
Nice to see that you are using the F30 beauty for last so many years.

Just wanted your help - is there any reliable local workshop who does a decent job for BMW? I had purchased a Pre-owned 320D last year and now is the need for its paid service.

Contemplating for a local competent workshop rather than handing over to BMW authorized service center, if you have any first hand experience, do share please.

Regards
- Soumya

After reading a tuning fiasco last week, glad to know you persevered and went with the right guy no matter what. The 320d although not ferocious like the 530d is no mean slouch.

Interestingly both the tuners are Kolkata based
On TeamBhp we have more success stories than failures when it comes to Tuning. TOT is one of the most popular name in this country.

These aren't custom maps AFAIK . A custom map would require a dyno ..etc . These guys are most likely loading a generic map for the model ( not that it is a bad thing since these are usually on the conservative side )

Hi Mr.Abhi,

How is the overall performance of your BMW after this Stage 1+ tuning? Pros and cons please. And are you planning for any additional upgrades like stage 2.

I own a BMW 220d and I am planning to do stage 1+

Looking forward to your response.

Still super happy. No complaints whatsoever.

No intention to go to stage 2 as on now.
