What are the limits of performance upgrades in India

Hello all,

I am thinking of buying a used car with the sole intention of modyfying it for pure performance,,

I am thinking of a used esteem or m800 petrol,

Is this a good choice for a modification on the engine level ?

I will not buy the car until i am sure i can get all the modifications , i am thinking of to be done

Mods I would like to do are

1. lightening of flywheel
2. high performance exhaust
3. a turbo or supercharger with an intercooler
4. a cold air intake kit with performance filter
5. short shift gated shifter
6. better sparkplgs

can these mods be done sucessfully in Mumbai ?
money is not a problem

how much of a performance percent increase can i expect ?

Can you please provide me with some address of people who do these mods ,, like shops , garages etc ?

thanks a lot

I would suggest an Esteem/Baleno/OHC Vtec and a turbo job. There are only 2 tuners in India who have managed to run significant boost successfully for long periods, and neither is in your city.

From your post, it is evident you know little about modifications. A CAI, point 4, is pretty useless with a turbo, and so is a high performance exhaust.

what about short ram air intakes ?
are they available in Mumbai ?, how much will they cost ?

how much will a upgraded brake kit cost ?
Where can i find a competent garage in Mumbai ?

are there any freeflow exhaust kits available for the maruti esteem ?

Where can i get the flywheel lightened in Mumbai or in India ?

Where can i get a lightened , fibreglass hood for the esteem ?

Where can i get a short shift gearbox for the esteem , how much will it cost me ?

Thanks a lot

Spark Plugs dont give you more power.

If Money is not a issue buy a RS and get it remapped to 200bhp for Rs. 44000 from Peter and your ready to go.

If you have a turbocharger, an elaborate header setup would make a negligible difference. You might as well get a nice sturdy log manifold and be happy with your boost.

KS Motorsport is in Ballard Estate. If you know about Cafe Brittania, its the lane before that. Theres a petrol pump on the corner of the road, and another, slightly bigger one just ahead of that. Karan Shah's workshop is in the petrol pump.
