Okay, it makes bit more sense now. Maybe because I'm an extremely skinny person, I felt it was painful to sit on. Also I was sliding around in the seat. I've seen this being used mostly in taxis.

Just curious, do you find it aesthetically pleasing or are you just using it because there's no other choice?

I don't honestly notice it at all, nowadays. But I have to say it is sturdier than it looks, being that it's just a lot of beads strung on what's essentially nylon fishing line.

Imagine having a real girlfriend and putting this on the windshield. Your respect for her is quite evident from how you display your relationship. And if you don't have a girlfriend, what's the message to the public about your view on relationships?

Why am I even explaining all this?

Re: What are the car modifications that you despise?

Despised list in order:

1. Chrome, Chrome & Chrome

2. Big sized fonts on Cars mentioning the Model - Hell we know what the car is and many models do have it written on the rear, why again the oversized labelling (Disappointed to notice this done OEM by MG with their Hector, Gloster ..etc

3. Bull bars - although the ones in front have rapidly disappeared I could see many with rear ones and that too fitted by SCs. Surprised to see companies like Mahindra listed it out in their Accessories Brochure.

4. Very Dark tints, which is equally illegal

5. Aftermarket LEDs, specifically the Police type ones and the blinding Chinese whites

6. And finally those gross sticker works to hide your windshield cracks or scratches on body - not really sure if we could consider them as modifications

Okay, first of all, with all due respect, this isn't the place to discuss or challenge each other's personal views.
Since you have asked, allow me to explain myself.

I find it misogynistic because it is degrading and disrespectful. Reducing a woman to a mere exhaust sound?
It is inhumane and cheapens women.

If this 'girlfriend-exhaust' personification isn't rooted in hatred than where does it come from? That man might be young and dumb but isn't the nature of this sticker in itself misogynist?

And I firmly believe, a man who respects women (and every other gender for that matter) will not find this sticker funny.

Last but not the least, you can try asking your female friends what they think about this sticker? My sister and girlfriend weren't sure as hell amused by it.

PS - I absolutely agree with the BHPian @Pennant1970

Re: What are the car modifications that you despise?

You guys got most of my own pet peeves but missed that obnoxious baggage tag hanging from the bumper.

It's just weird! Sure it's small, unobtrusive and all that but just why! I see it mostly on KA / KL cars so wondering if it's a Ktka / Kerala only trend.

Hate these front splitters, side skirts and rear diffusers that people put. Looks very riced to me.
I think the splitter in itself is decent, the ground clearance of the slavia makes it look weird, and the fact that it's 'just' a front splitter, there isn't a sideskirt, not a rear diffuser to complete the look.

Oh, and the stock wheels just don't blend with that anyway

Re: What are the car modifications that you despise?

1) The most hateful modification for me is 'chrome chrome everywhere'. No offense to the chrome-lovers, but for me it is big disappointment when I see cars with heavy chrome work done.

2) The second thing is any modification that will add risk to the car and other vehicles as well. The bull bars, the cheap LED/HID headlights.

3) Didn't have the budget for car with sunroof? Don't worry, you can get it installed as aftermarket installation..

4) Thar/Jimnys with heavily mounted LED lightbars. They may be helpful while off-roading, but hey they just blind every oncoming vehicles when they are used in cities/highways.

5) Ambient lightings with cheap looking colors.

6) Steering knob which is a risky mod for me.

Re: What are the car modifications that you despise?

Another irritating trend that is picking up these days in Bangalore are the Red & Blue LED lights. When I see them in the rear view mirror, I think it is an emergency vehicle and give way, only to realize its not when he passes by! And some people fix them to the back. They are so bright and flashy that they cause major eye strain if one is unfortunate enough to stop behind a car with these lights!

Re: What are the car modifications that you despise?

I don't see why you need a colourful tow hook straps hanging from the backside of the car (usually it's a Maruti Swift). Why??? Are you running hot laps around the local race track on the weekend?

The other thing I consider wasteful is getting a 2L+ PPF for any car. The first scrape in the local traffic and its ruined.

Re: What are the car modifications that you despise?

This may not qualify as a modification, but I am observing a new trend in Bangalore. I frequently see taxi drivers hanging their wet microfiber cleaning clothes from the trunk lid, which covers the rear bumper and sometimes the number plate too. I am not sure whether it is to dry the clothes on the move or to cover the rear number plate and avoid challans for traffic violations.

Re: What are the car modifications that you despise?

Dumbest modification ever, Scorpio Classic comes with 17 or 18 inches stock alloys, but there are people who replace the oem wheels to 26 inches alloys -

Re: What are the car modifications that you despise?

Red painted rear drums!! Front calipers is fine even certain OEMs do it, but why rear drums in red? If it has to be painted a pure black will look better.
Then comes the series of stickers on the driver side door listing: sparco brembo pirelli borla cobra and whatever possible.

Re: What are the car modifications that you despise?

We're all being so precious and "I am so much better than that" with these cringe modifications. But I must hark back to the early-mid 1980s, when I was young. Cars were rare - and we had had our Standard 10, 1967-68 painted scarlett red after a full post-crash rebuild. We had "flappy" door handles handmade by our mechanic, a shortened Maruti 800 dash and all chrome matt-blackened throughout. As a personal touch, I put a yellow Scuderia Ferrari sticker below the "Standard 10" monogram on the "dicky"! Cringe? Maybe. But I thought it was the hen's teeth!

This video recalls some of the "less sophisticated" auto enthusiast scene of yesteryears - unabashed and out there. Let's be less judgemental?

Re: What are the car modifications that you despise?

Pops and bangs!

Sadly the tuners can do this during a remap for a petrol car. Customers are more than happy as it is an attention grabber. On a road going car, this doesn't make any sense and disturbs other road users and surrounding residents.
I am all for a well tuned free flow exhaust which sounds good and mellow and aids in some performance, but not with these annoying noises when the engine revs drop.
