It does not prevent it from losing HP; at least not on Indian cars, where the throttle body is standalone. Bypassing helps on coolant circuited throttle bodies, where the intake air temperature is adversely affected.

This is a technique mostly used on high-capacity dragsters...

There's also the bypass below the TB, used for I/T for idling; which's also called a TB bypass.

The Idea behind a heated throttle body is to prevent icing in cold countries.
In our country we can do without heating the TB.But i am sure it is not going to make any difference to the HP either percepted or real.

But then the thing with DIY is you have to see for yourself that it will not work

So go ahead and do your TB bypass mod and let us know how it feels.

My apologies, did not exlpain what a TB bypass is.

Basically the Idea in this mod is to stop the hot coolant from circulating around the throttle body.
Its a simple thing and all you need to do is route the coolant pipe that goes towards the TB directly back to the engine.

If you are not mechanically inclined then hop over sometime.I will rig it for you.
