Eye Transplants (Clear Lens Headlamps)

Hey guys.

Got the clear lens headlamps for my Type2 (2002 model) esteem.

Looks supercool and with my Philips Rally bulbs illumination at night is excellent.

Will post pics soon.

Good news - It is a bolt-on fit. Got the MGA ones (Lumax) for INR 5500/- for 2 headlamps and 2 side indicators. Will be disposing the old ones - dirt cheap. Anyone needs it, please send me a PM.

Pretty neat title of the thread. I came in hoping to read about Laser operations and/or eyes being removed from a goat and installed in a human

Congrats for the lens transplant, look forward to some pictures after the operation got completed.

If your esteem is the type1 esteem then it wouldnt fit.

Does your esteem have the long narrow headlamps (like the ones on the maruti 1000) or is the shape same as the ones on the new esteem?

Do check and let me know.

i guess the current shape came from 98 onwards. Before 98 esteem had the same body like M1000.

They redesigned the bonnet etc from 98.

Congrats Aditya.. btw arent't these clear ones the one which came in the latest Esteem i.e. with HLL device? If yes then how come they are so cheap ?

I got the clear lens headlamps without the HLL device. The HLL device (motors) are pretty expensive i heard, although i am not sure of its cost.

Hey Aditya, I had this in mind ever since the Esteem with the clear lamp headlights was launched. However, when I checked the price of one headlamp unit (nothing else included) at the MASS it was around 3475 INR. I am surprised that you managed it all for 5500 INR. Where did you get them from ? And, am waiting for your pics too !

Got them from Mahaveer auto accessories on G.P. Road. I guess its more expensive at MASS as they include taxes and surcharges.

Adi' the title was quite mis-leading man. For a sec' I was wondering what on earth is this coz it was under the Modifications and Accessories sub-forum.

Nice one and do we need to wait till Jan 32nd arrives to see the pics?

I guess it is Type 1, as the Break pads are same as Maruti 1000, also the model changed in 1997 itself. The newer one had Orange Side lights, whereas mine has same color as headlamp i.e. clear..

Tough luck Shashank. The clear lens wouldnt fit on this model.

Try getting the palio headlamps. I heard its possible with some modifications to the body. Have no idea how it would look though. Maybe the PS experts can help? Hope it doesnt qualify for the wierd and whacky mod's thread.

yes Aditya, the ones with HLL device are very expensive, the new Alto's headlamp costs 3.5k-3.8k & the old ones costed a mere 800 bucks :O
