woooo i ve always liked the lancer over the subaru.
race spec means a pounding for your butt too??
Nice bonnet scoop Neville. Looks good. Did you consider putting side slits instead as I think in this case, side slits would do the job as efficiently?

I am sure you almost dont give a damn about your swift now : - but man i cant believe you were running on a STOCK oil filter.
CANT believe KS didnt highly recommend it.
Hell yes 1.4 is the BASIC set up. |
Hello cyneverdie,
Few questions...rather only 2.
1)what does a K&N oil filter do better over a stock oil filter, please tell us.
2)What more do u want for 1.4 lacs,if u call this a basic set up.It comes wiht the stand alone ecm, which to me doesnt come under a basic set up.So if i add a K&N oil filter, will i be eligible for a perfomane set up bro?
Nothing against u man...but just the way u think about perfomance aint right bro.

Nice looking swift buddy!! Just a small suggestion, do away with the GTR badge. :)
An excellent example of looks and performance going hand in hand.Really amazing stuff .
I had some queries from a friend who owns a swift and seemed excited with the idea of modding his one year old swift - hope someone can answer these queries as I only have theoretical (read googled) knowledge on tc'ing stupid:
1) If a tc is done to a bangy car by a tuner in another city (lets say by KS in bombay), and given that it takes 3-4 days to tc the swift, how much tuning is needed once the install is done. As in, will one trip to bombay suffice or will further tuning and alterations be needed
2) Can all models of swift (lxi, vxi w abs, zxi) be tc'd
3) How difficult is it to maintain and service the car once tc'd. In layman terms, can the car be regularly serviced by any maruti shop and does the tc need any special support or post install servicing precautions. Also how often (if at all) do I need to get the tc serviced or checked by the installer (read at what frequency a bangy-bombay drive)
4) What other mods are recommended to support a tc'd swift - apart from tires/alloys, do I need an FFE, suspension mods, etc.
TIA :)

it is a complete daily driver. i highly recommend a brake system....and for servicing its as simple as a stock car...
when you say daily driver - do you use it as your primary car and drive around in bumper to bumper traffic also during rush hour. How easy is it to drive if you get stuck in traffic :) or do you keep wheel spinning all over the place at a crowded junction
Hey Nev,
Just came across this thread and saw your mug along with the pic's, must say this is one sick looking car. @ 1st i thought it was a mini cooper S my bad. Must say them angel eyes on the car look the biz. I would say get a coopers S hood in the front to give it an agressive look plus it has a air intake/scoop on top that will hold the car down and cool the turbo's. And get some racing stripes on the car will look wild Like the ones mustangs and mini's have over ' 'ere.
Laters Mate
Happened to meet Neville on Saturday at Bandstand & followed him till Carters. Must say she growls only when needed & yes she does move with a pissscccttt following all the time. Crazy Car Neville.
d2 racing coilovers on the way
im goin to paint the car any suggestions on a good colour to go for
How about a Monza Pearl Red??..Just a thought

1) If you get the tuning set up right then it will probably suffice but you will need a few runs on the Dyno to get the tuning right i.e. according to your driving style. Then run around fro a few days and see if you are satisfied. If yes then thats it. Everyone's driving style is different. The tuner is the basically going to do a basic set up and then you have to give feed back to him as to what areas you want tweaked. A lot of people have this misconception that if a tuner tunes the car then all issues have to be sorted out. What may be an issue to you, may not be an issue to him, this is where your contribution is required.
For eg. whether you want the turbo to spool in early or late, etc are issues you have to give feed back to your tuner to solve
So the time taken will be entirely on you after the basic set up.
2) Yes all models of the petrol Swift can be T/c ed with out without ABS but it would be better to have ABS on the car.
3) Anyone can service the T/C but owing to the inquisitiveness of greenhorn mechanics at garages, it would do well to get the car serviced at a place that is aware of t/c-ed cars.
4) Apart from the above mods, the Swift needs better brakes. This can be done by better pads or bigger discs (expensive). Also one would need to tweak the suspension as that is a grey area in the Swift already.
For a T/C-ed car, the exhaust set up will be totally different. The manifold design is also different from a N/A car. This is not every (so called) exhaust maker's cup of tea and should be left to an expert. Normally every tuner get his exhaust work done from a particular person and it is best that such a specific job be left to him.
One would need meters (Boost, Oil Temp, Oil Pressure) at least and a turbo timer installed in the car also.
Then it is upto the owner what cosmetic ad ons he would like to install.
@ Gemballa- How about a Matt Black all the way.
Good move on getting a paintjob... Please don't retain that wannabe mini cooper look.
pearl white was the decision
