Hello,
Does anyone know where I can get a custom dash-board fabricated in Bangalore?
Thanks,
TK
Extremely difficult to do.
What you can do is take your stock dashboard, make suitable modifications to it in fiberglass and then get the whole thing wrapped in leather.
Try contacting Autofusion,Eb bass,blueraven316( on the forum)
For which vehicle & what kind of dashboard? If you're looking for building spartan dashboard for a recreational vehicle than it could be done using diamond checkered sheet.
Even if someone is able to fabricate a custom dash board for you, why would you want a custom one ? Also how safe would a fibreglass dashboard be in case you have an accident.
Nothing is Impossible these day...
But by custom, did you mean something like this?

This is for a Tempo Trax Gurkha. The original dashboard is has got a very awkward place for the stereo. Check out these pics from Samurai.

I am not looking for anything very fancy since this is a recreational off-road vehicle. Just something more functional with better placement of the stereo.
Sir, The stereo in the Judo/Gurkha is almost an afterthought. It is placed like some kind of a baggy thing hung on a wall. However, there is ample space above the blower to mount it normaly.
I have used that space for my gauge cluster. I am sure it can be used for the stereo too .
I have attached the picture

Something like this?

i had something like this in my fiat back in the 80;s dont think i have pics of it though. it had a small steering wheel and about 7 dials over the dash. i think the dash was made with wood and covered with some black material like fake leather. looked damn neat in those days. sold it 5 yrs back i think for rs. 12k. damn it was fun to drift in those though :)
Not the easiest thing to do... I had thought of something like this for my car. Even if someone does manage to fabricate something to your taste, would it be safe and would it be long lasting? Non OE dashboards may be prone to squeaks and rattles... can get irritating in the long run.
Fellow BHPians,
I have read some posts in our forums on custom dashboards and the almost vehement opposition to it on accont of safety and rattles.
Taking the chance of incurring the wrath of our senior's here I would like to start a discussion on why not a custom Dash?
On the aspect of safety, given the abysmal lack of front end protection in most indian cars ( i mean the most models in the lower and middle end that are purchased by most of us) except cruple zones, collapsible steerings and seatbelts ( please note many cars still dont have front air bags as compulsory) does it matter if a fiberglass dashboard is attached or the OE dash? I do agree the OE dash has been designed to take impact but so do the bumpers which are made up of the same fibre glass ( at least some of the body kits and remodels).Does a fibre dash reduce safety by so much? US transportation allows fibreglass dashboards, albiet with conditions, to be retrofitted in cars there.
On the matter of rattles I strongly believe it is a matter of workmanship and we do now of many OE dashboards also prone to the "squeaky mouse" syndrome. So I guess as long as you get the right workman this can be sorted out?
What do you guys feel?
