Now, this might sound pretty weird. I have the Swift with the DDIS engine and would like to go for an engine swap, However, I would like to choose from the available diesel engines only. Are there any better (in terms of power/speed) engines available for a swap?

Does indeed sound weird. Why do you want to do this? If you are looking for better power, use a tuning box of some sort. But if you do end up chucking your DDIS engine and are looking for a buyer, do contact me.

Thanks Roy, for the useful reply. Never knew the DDIS is good enough to keep. You were talking about the tuning box and I really would like to go for it if "IT" really has a visible performance. As of now my pocket is tight hence I'm waiting for someone to sell their tuning box so that I could get it for a lesser price.
I'm also planning for a CAI soon and doing some R & D on it currently. Once I get to know the perfect fit for the Swift, I'd definitely go for it (again, IF my budget permits me).

Jiggy Bhai,

IIRC, all swifts (from Maruti) have the old esteem block mated to a baleno head with slightly wilder cam profiles.

I have a Swift 1.3 head with me & compared to a Baleno 1.6 head. No its not the same though both of them can be interchanged

Combustion chamber is bigger for Swift 1.3 than the Baleno 1.6. The depth is more. Quench pads also are smaller for the 1.3 head increasing combustion chamber volume.

This implies that compression would drop if the head is changed in a Baleno 1.6 with a Swift 1.3 head
