hi,
i will be getting my new fabia next week, i am planning to increase the power of the car. i have two options, one i fix an petes or should i remap it to stage 1 or 2.
i need some advice from people who have done remap or put an petes

ronny

both are good but the remap would increase the power more than the petes. the remap would also cost more.

the remap is supposed to give more output, and earlier power delivery, but has the disadvantage of being permanent.

what I mean is, for some reason, if you have to re flash the ECU,the money you spent is gone.

apparently peter gets a fixed number of credits for remaps, and each remap uses up these credits, so even if its just re installing new software on a car that had a remap in it already, more credits will have to be redeemed to custom code, i.e you'll have to pay them again.

Pete's tuning box is a safer compromise.

Remap = greater power, stealth.
Tuning box = removable, cheaper.
That said, I don't have any experience with neither the diesel remaps nor the tuning boxes. IMHO with the tuning box, your warranty is safe as you can remove it before taking the car for servicing. In case of the remap, as soon as the A.S.S plugs in the VAG, the game is up. AFIK, neither is available from Pete's as of now.

agree: Tuning Box is best bet as the warranty will remain intact and you'll still get a boost.

the tuning box for the fabia was ready according to peter the last time I visited him. remaps are best for spare cars or cars that are out of warranty period.

best thing to do is PM or call Peter, he'll give you the best advice.

thanks i shall then go for petes, an safe investment. should i install it immediately or after 5000kms

Warranty part is not an issue?

hi
u can try STEINBAUER Tuning Technologies - Motortuning - Dieseltuning - Benzinertuning - Fuel Saver - Leistungssteigerung
also there 1 device avaible in europe were u can store u original firmware from u ecu and then reflash it
if u donot like mods firmware u and put back u old original stock
firmare

there's no problem installing it immediately, just that if you wait till 5000kms, you will realise how much of a performance boost you get because you would have become used to stock performance.

no, just unplug before service or warranty claims.:)

Hey great posts. I was just exploring the matter for our Fabia written about in the Initial review section. The car's meant for my folks, so it's unlikely we'll head for a power upgrade, but nothing wrong with keeping abreast?:)

Thanks, guys. Great info here. Any ballpark costing for Pete's box?

Hey any access to your ecu no? If any one has vag com you can see the Ecu ID. What are the engine specifications for your car? 1.4 L ..... Power = ?... etc..

the petes box will be roundabout 30k.

Remap=More power but Bye bye warranty
Box- Adequate power with no drawbacks. And cheaper too.(I think)
