I am having maruti 800 (2000) model,
I want to increase handling of my ride.
she is too much flexible even on small corners also.
What should I do please:?
I think the best bang for your buck mod would be a Strut brace
It's a steel bar that runs from one strut tower to the other in the front of the car, within the engine bay.
It helps eliminate chassis flex during cornering...It's a very effective mod
Also upsize rims and tyres...better overall grip

From the way you have worded it, it sounds like a strut-brace might be a cost-effective solution to your problem as DocG has suggested.
However, what i would look at before even considering a strut brace is your
tyres.
What tyres are you running now?
If you upgrade to some slightly wider rubber, as well as a much better tyre brand/model there will be a night and day difference in handling.

Best bang for the buck is better shocks. Period. Also, for the 800, fiberglass rear leaf springs if you can lay your hands on them.
Upsize to 155s. It will sure improve handlng to some extend.
upgrade your tyres and stiffer the suspension and feel the difference
1) Better tyres - 165s would be just perfect.
2) Strut brace.
3) Maruti Zen (not the Estilo) suspension lower arms. They're sturdier. It's bolt on.
4) Install Zen's gas dampers at the rear.
How many kms has your 800 run? It may be time for a suspension overhaul too. That, and better tyres, should do the trick.
@DocG-thank you for your kind suggestion. please tell me how much it will cost me?
@Rehaan sir-I have already bought 165s . So I think Strut brace will be best option.
@GTO Sir, my M800 has done 60k Kms. What is overhauling.Shall I go for that now.

Shaoni_son,
What tyres have you bought?? As i mentioned earlier, it is the quality of the tyres that will make the biggest difference.
(See this thread :

Have you fitted them yet ? Do you notice the difference?
As most people have mentioned, the next best thing you can do it replace/overhaul(=get it re-worked) your existing suspension.
The strut bar is a quick-fix, halfway there solution.
If you feel that your problem is severe, go for the overhaul instead of the strutbar.

All an 800 needs is a bit fatter tyres,Rest if the suspension/steering setup is in perfect stock conditon than the handling is soo direct and awesome that u dont need to touch any of it.
And i totally agree with rehaan, first get the stock setup checked.I m sure with the power/top end the 800 has u ll be happy with the stock setup itself.
Everyone has written about meatier tyres, upsizing etc...
The only suggestions that will help his problem are
1) Strut brace / Sway bar, can be made for both front and back
2) Better suspension - Shocks, Coilovers, Uprated springs...
tyre upgrades will help the car hold through corners, however their effect on chassis flex will be minimal.
The strut brace connects both sides of the car at points of maximum flex, the strut towers in front, and the suspension setup at back. This causes force to be transfered from the side of turn in to the outside. This then makes the chassis more rigid, reducing flex. It is extremely effective and not just a halfway fix...[Unless your suspension is too soft!]
New shocks, coilovers or uprated springs all work on the same principle. The stiffer the setup, the less it moves.
Shaoni hope this helps.
To everyone else, no offense, but I did this little write-up for the benefit of Shaoni.
cheers:

Thank you all of you.I have decided to Overhaul suspension And to fit Strut brace.
Does anyone know where I can get strut brace fitted in pune for M'800.

Hi, I also would like to know how to improve the rear suspension of M800. I can feel each and every pothole if sitting in the rear seat. What replacements I can fit in to improve the ride?
