Engine options for Gypsy.

Hello guys,
Well i dont know much about engines so i just wanted to know
Which Engine (that is powerful) available?

Please answer considering few things
1. Engine should be able to fit in the gypsy
2. I would go for a new suspension
3. Engine should be Powerful as i would also use it for offroading
4. An engine that can run an AC with losing on Pick Up.
5. The cost should be below 70k
6. average would be around 10 kmpl.
7. The engine should be a Diesel one.

well there are a number of options available :
a very good engine is the peugeot tud5 diesel engine, it did duty in maruti zen diesel, mm bolero, m- esteem.
as you have mentioned your home town is ludhiana, ill sugest the best deal for you, theres a place called mandi dabhwali(remember that marriage palace burning incident), the same town, it is known for the ultimate jeeps they make. the craftsmen there buy those army disposal jeeps & put new life into them.
now, you can take your gypsy there & find a variety of choices in your budget. they typically use engines that are used in small boats or ferrys. the engines are good and last a great deal of time. so, check it out.

devang, will the 4x4 be retained with the Baleno engine? I do remember seeing pics of a 1.6 Gypsy in your Mumbai OTR snaps.

Do you feel any disadvantage i term of Off-Road capability by going with the baleno engine?

Also, it would be great if you can post a thread on all aspects of putting a baleno engine in a Gypsy

yes 4x4 is retained. you have to use the original gearbox of the gypsy with the baleno engine.
There was one in bangalore too, amazing drive and power.
Now that engine is in a willys!!

Hi Stallion,

Best for you to continue the discussion here. I would have merged the threads, but recent replies in both would break the flow.

Thread closed.
