Re: Painting wheel hubs- How do i do it?

Hubs are what the wheels fit onto. What ryan has painted are the wheel caps.

Re: Painting wheel hubs- How do i do it?

Hey guys. Jump starting the stagnant thread as i'm getting a new Honda Brio and i really want to stylize my wheel caps. Silver on silver rims looks boring! I really wanted to paint caps black with gold outlines. Have a pretty clear image in my head of what I want. Really need advice.

My heart want to DIY but brain tells me "You are sh*t at shuff like this!" Don't want to spoil my wheel caps. Does anyone know where I can get something like this done professionally?

This is what I have in mind. I know this is a pathetic self done job on "paint", but its the only way i could represent it!

What do you guys think? Where in Pune can I get it done for a value for money price?

Thanks.

Re: Painting wheel hubs- How do i do it?

Reviving this thread again.

My ritz had wheel caps which were scratched everywhere. I was about to throw them away when the painting idea struck me. Spent Rs 80 on a can of black spray paint and the result is this.

Since this is my first painting job, the finish is not that good. but with a bit of mud/dust on the caps, those imperfections are easily covered. It needs a detailed inspection to see those issues.

Let me know what do you think.

Hello Arjithin, been a long time since you posted this! I am also thinking of painting the wheelcaps of my car. I am looking to give each wheelcap 2-3 coats of primer and then 2-3 coats of black paint. Could you let me know how many cans of spray paint would be required to paint all 4 caps? Thanks!

Re: Painting wheel hubs- How do i do it?

I used just one bottle only for all 4 caps as it was an experiment. But after using the painted caps for some time realised that whatever finish we give to the cap will be gone once it is dirty or scratched.

So my Ertiga and Nano too had a one bottle paint job, with every six month touch up to fix scratches.

Re: Painting wheel hubs- How do i do it?

Hello Everyone,

Reviving this long dead thread because i had recently bought an ignis sigma trim and it comes with silver wheel rims and wheel caps. I want to paint them both black either by sanding by myself and using spray paint or by giving it to a painter ?
