Safari Battery

A minor update about the Bull. Before leaving for Jaisalmer on the 24th night, had taken wife's Safari for some electrical repairs. During repairs and testing, the Lucas 80AH Battery (28.09.06) got drained and it took a couple of slow cranks to fire up. Didn't think much about it and drove back home (22 kms) hoping this would charge it up again. Well, next day morning when wifey wanted to take the Safari to market, it wouldn't start and the Race people were called up and they jump started it.

After her marketing, when she had to return, again the Safari wouldn't
start. Since I was on my way back from work, I stopped enroute, jump
started and we were back home. Then we left for Jaisalmer.

On return, attending the Safari was a priority. It was jump started and
taken to FNG where I was told that the battery was ok and only needed a
charge. The Sp. Grav too was ok. The safari's engine was on from 10 am
till 1 pm (RP knows about it) and then I thought that the battery
would've retained charge. It didn't and the next day morning the story
was the same. I removed the battery and took it to FNG for leaving the
same overnight for charging. This time the electrician suggested taking
the battery to the seller and get it checked. There it was discovered
that one of the cells had gone bust. This battery came with a 18 month
warranty and that too was over. It was time to by a new battery.

I then decided to get the new battery installed in the Bull and put the
existing AMCO 75VAH in the Safari.

I got a new Bosch Silver 75VAH PMF battery (2 yr warranty) installed in
the Scorpio and paid 3700 after giving the Lucas battery on 3rd Jan '09.
