Nice choice of rims though.

Like I thought, he's running the wrong upsize because of which the Overall Diameter (OD) is smaller than it should be.

Correct size for the Accord is 215/50-17 or 215/45-18.

His New Tire Diameter is 3.43% smaller than the OE Tire. As a thumb rule, more than a 2% variation should not be acceptable.

When your speedo reads 100kph, you'll actually be at 96kph. In other words, when your ODO shows you've driven 100 kms, you would have driven about 96kms. Other than that I don't think there is anything to be bothered about. Enjoy your ride. Cheers.

215/45 is way undersized for the Accord, seems like the seller badly wanted to push out these tires.

215/50, 225/45 or 235/45 are acceptable upsizes in 17" for the Accord.

Like I said earlier, I suspect these tyres are at least 3-4 years old if not more. IIRC, the MXF series was phased out around 4 years ago, if not more.

Also, I came across a recent case of a tyre dealer in Karol Bagh trying to sell a BHPian tyres manufactured in 2003.

Rohan, i guess not. Even is you bring it up with the seller it wont do much. Youve bought and used the tires and he's made his sale.

Like suggested by everyone, do look up the manufacturing date. You would not have any driving problems as such, but if you ever feel unsafe to keep using the tires i suggest you upgrade to a right sized fresh set. On the downside you'll probably lose quite a bit on the resale of these ones though.

Whoa .. IMHO, 225 and 235 are WAYYY broad for this car, but then I could be wrong as you probably know more about these things than I do.

Usually after 4-5 years, the rubber on the tires become hard which leads to a irritating hum. I'm not sure if it affects handling/safety as such, but yes the noise is quite distinct.

I know because my Accord is facing the same problem. Its a '04 model done 30k on the Odo with more than 50% life remaining on the Turanza's. But the tire noise is just too damn irritating.

In a nutshell, drive on as long as these are running fine with no apparent problem.

How are the Xenons compared to the halogen lights? I have heard it was not as effective (it can be wrong info). Can you please post some pics and let us know if the xenons are a big improvement?
