Need help for Viva CRDi Headlights

Hi People!

I have noticed that the headlights of my car have gone slightly blunt i.e. the glass is not fully transparent and has lost clarity. This is causing the lights to diffuse and the illumination is not as good as it should be.
I want to know if there's any solution for this problem that does not involve replacing the headlights completely. I can post the pics if you want to see how its looking.

Thanks

Guys can anybody help me on this. Its really annoying to drive my car with such lights at night. Do I really have to buy new headlights? or can I just replace the front plastic. If yes then can anybody tell me where I can get it in Delhi?

Hi, it would be great if you can post some pics.

I have seen this happen to some cars. It most often occurs if water has entered, either due to driving in water logged areas etc. It gets clouded.

One solution would be is to take it to a mech and get the inside cleaned.

Otherwise, the only solution would be to change the bulbs or maybe the entire headlamp unit.

The lens is made of glass & NOT plastic. I do not think there is a way to change just the lens. You will need to change the headlamp assembly.

There is a rubber installed behind the headlamp (where the holder is) to stop water from entering & ruining the lamp. In all probability that must be missing in your car & hence water may have entered the assembly & spoilt the reflector.

Hope that helps.

Hey Goel,

I had a similar problem with my Santro headlamps because it had lots of scrathes.I used super fine sand paper to take off the scrathes but of no help.

I had to change the the whole set, which i did last week.

Just before buying a new pair of headlights, trying sourcing some headlight repairing guy and try cleaning the glass from inside after headlight dismantling. A friend tried to get the glasses cleaned from inside and it worked.

Thanks, I'll definitely try it out. If that does'nt work then probably will have to shell out the money for new lights.

hey dude. if your headlamp has some water vapor inside it. all that you have to do is take off the front glass and sealing the glass properly with air tight rubber glue. or if the front glass has some scratches or if it has become blur, it is mainly because of parking the car in the sunlight. u can get the front glass alone separately and fix it back again. in chennai you can get the headlamp glass in pudupet. thought i don know the place in Delhi. try Karol Bargh i have been there a couple of times.
