You dont see me here often, but anyways....
I am posting this on behalf of a friend. He has a 08 Suzuki Swift, which has covered a few thousand kms.
Current Mods:
Custom Made Free Flow and Endcan
17 inch Oz Superlegerras
MAD sounding Audio!
Now, Money is no object here, and he doesnt want a Turbo...YET!
What he wants is very Simple. He wants:
Suzuki Swift Sport 1.6 Twin Cam VVT Enhine
A Stage 2/3 Clutchmasters Clutch
All Round Discs, Ventilated.
A Full suspension Setup.
A Swift Sport Body Kit.
Swift GT Spoiler
Carbon Fibre Hood
I have asked a couple of people, and the engine seems to be the difficult part. Also, I have been offered Front Disks, but not rear disks.
Please Do give me info on all the above.
Is there a full fleged Swift Sport Conversion in India running on a 1.6 VVT engine?
I have heard of a 1.6VVT conversion SX4 in bombay. Any Details on that car?
viper had one for sale last i checked.
also said he could get more if needed.
rear disc conversion kit is available on japanese websites related to swift sport
pretty straightforward
dont do it on 1.3 - not necessary.

We dont want to do it on the 1.3
We want it for the 1.6 Engine.
you can import complete drivetrain with engine and brakes front and back, incuding wiring and ecm. look at this as it will be cost effective.
Any Website which I can refer to? Does the Swift Sport have Discs in the Back?
all swifts abroad come with all round discs. There is one shop in singapore which sells practically everything that you are looking for will get details and let you know
There was a VVTi M16 engine sold through the classified section here, So you can get the info through the person who sold it.
Iceman good to see you posting.
swifts sold in dubai are 1.6 ltr. and i think there might be a sports edition too. i will check about it and come back to post some info.
the best will be to import an used engine from a total loss swift from dubai. i dont know if it can be done or not!

People import engines as scrap (for steel mills) you could get one of those engines you require.
However changing the notation in the RC book will be a major pain. Again, even insurance cover will be compromised if the car post modifications is involved in an accident.
Ask Viper/Ford Rocam as they have made modifications which your friend intends to do.
The upgrading of the engine and powertrain is the easy part, the tougher part is complying with car registration laws and insurance headaches (engine number is changed, and certain insurance clauses are breached)
Cheers
M
anyone with experience knows if 1.6 (or the one from local SX4) will require engine mounts to be modified , or how tough it will be.
In other countries Swift already comes with M16 1.6 engine.....
I have been nurturing this idea for some time, and when I was searching for information on this, I came across this thread, which seems to have come to stop.
Replying with the hope that something got done about this engine swap and someone has the information to guide me in the right direction.

Same here. Been looking around for threads on modifications on Swift. Haven't found much except for this.

The original post is dated 2009. Today it will not be a good idea to have 1.6 VVT engine in the swift. This engine (I have the same in my SX4; I am very happy with it) is Suzuki M series engine, model M16AN.
M seriese engines have been discontinued by MSIL after SX4. They have full focus on K seriese now. So look for K15 engine used in Ciaz. It has VVT too.
Not just the engine, you may need to change the trans axle (clutch + gearbox) as well if the existing transaxle cannot be mounted on the new engine. Also, the mounting points of the new engine and transaxle are likely to be different and the structure of your swift may not be strong enough at those locations.
Use of VVT engine will also require new ECM and associated electrical modifications.
All in all, it does look to be feasible. Also check the legal aspect.
What is the purpose you want bigger engine? If it is just the power and pickup, you can go for remap.
