Dials for a jeep

The fuel dials etc jump all over the place when driving in a jeep and are not like the dials in cars which are oblivious to bumps.

Is this the norm with jeep dials or can they be replaced with superior quality dials that do not exhibit this behavior ?

Does anyone have any suggestions or is it one of those things you have to get used to ?
