P-tronic tuning boxes - Anyone tried in India?

Mods, please move this thread appropriately.

I'm seriously looking out for either a PSI tuning box or some sort that can boost the power of my Linea multijet. I know that Petes has the PSI stuff, which should boost to a minimum of 102bhp, in fact I saw that psi website had changed the figure to 109bhp for Linea 1.3 MJD.

Then somebody recently posted somewhere about the P-tronic, which will boost the power to 115bhp. But not sure where to get. Anyone has ever tried it or know where to get in India?

APTB06 Fiat Punto Grande 1.3 JTDM (75bhp) 2009 615.00 €
Total : 615.00 €
Bonus : -92.25 €
VAT (*) : -90.73 €
Delivery fee : 0.00 €
To Pay 432.02 €

Thats how much the box costs for Punto. Approx Rs. 30,000/-. That offer of 15% discount and free shipping is enticing (not to forget the VAT refund). Just worried about the service though. Guys, post here if you get a reply from them about local dealer support.

The Difference in power figures is because of different fuel quality available here and abroad.

What's the difference in diesel quality? There isn't any octane rating like in petrol. For example, most petrol cars in India are detuned from their power rating in developed countries. But for diesels, it's exactly the same between India & Int'l spec (especially the VWs, Skodas, Mercs, BMWs, Audis).

Cetane: India's vary from 48-51 (BSIII & BSIV ) on par with Europe. But Europe also get premium diesels which can haev CN of 60 !

And low Sulphur content can also be an issue.

Europeans get 10-15ppm ones . BSIV says 50ppm and BSIII 350ppm.

"Honda is also addressing other technical challenges in developing clean diesel engines, such as handling diesel fuels with different cetane numbers—a particular problem in the US—and meeting US On-Board Diagnostic System requirements."

Reason Why Honda cant gives us their 2.2L diesel !

Thanks JK. But then, how are Euro cars running in the same tune in India, if diesel quality is indeed the restriction?

Rubbish. Honda's just taking their time getting the diesel engine here.

hi
in june 5 june 2009 i vist my business partner in litunavia
since we finish worked early we decided to drive from lithunavia to germany
my freind has a audi quadro a6 3.0 v6 motor
as we were driving when we fill diesel in germany we found power increase almost 20%
as u know the quality of diesel is not so good in eastern europe
but in germany u can get sulfur free diesel
which total diffrent from normal diesel u see in lithunavia and poland we were getting a average of 12 for 100 km to 14 100km
with diesel filled in eastern europe mainly lithunavia & poland
but with this german sulfur free diesel we got 7 to 8 per 100 km
also engine noise reduce and pick increase so quality of fuel does make a lot of diffrence
also i think honda is new with diesel engine
so i am sure they are not sure if this kind of engine will work good in sulfur add diesel

@ narry; Some part of Europe gets 100ppm and less which means they are Euro 5/6 !

Honda is Euro 6 ready and hence cant take sulphur of higher content.

One thing restricts the other; power vs being eco friendly.

Shell are the gurus when it comes to sulphur free diesel.

GUYS.. Finally received reply from Ptronics

Dear Mr Ananthakrishnan,

Thank you for your request concerning your Fiat

The unit is very easy to fit on this car, the unit is delivered with a full instruction ( with picture)

You can find all price and power gain information on this link:
For india our webshop will automatically remove the belgian 21% VAT, in this case you have to pay the import taxes on delivery. [ how much will this cost]
P-Tronic additional box-units :: power kit ::engine chips :: diesel chips :: power box-units :: diesel tuning :: power box-unit :: chiptuning :: increase engine power :: diesel booster :: TDI tuning :: additional box-unit (NEW)

There is 15% discount at this time ( and free delivery to india )

What are the new benefits of the P-tronic® add-on unit?

1. Its latest-generation microprocessors with their constant automatic control system offer a very reliable and secure product.
2. Other manufacturers’ units increase the fuel injection pressure proportionally without taking into account the speed at which the engine is running. By contrast, thanks to its new program, the P-tronic® add-on unit “Intelligent injection controller” constantly checks the intake levels for ignition and the engine temperature. It is combined with a new system for monitoring the running of the engine.
3. The new program of the P-tronic® add-on unit adapts to your driving. So the system switches automatically to economical mode when the car is being driven slowly, then returns to performance mode in 0.05 seconds when it is powerfully accelerated.
4. This unit offers the user a choice of different programs. It can favour fuel economy or provide additional torque or power or a compromise between the two.
5. The P-tronic® add-on unit is equipped with a delay designed to prevent excess fuel injection and smoke emissions when the vehicle is cold started.
When the engine is started for the first time, it should be allowed to tick over slowly for 30 seconds. During this first minute, the P-tronic® automatically detects the various data from your car’s specific sensors and modifies its own program as a result. After this first start, the software is adjusted specifically for your engine.

Don't hesitate to contact me for any future questions

best regards
