Mods for Jetta required

Hi ppl,

I need some help to mod (kinda!) my new VW Jetta Comfortline.

First and foremost, I need the VW-Skoda Parktronic system which doesn't come company fitted in Jetta (Darn). I need the same system but VW is quoting a very high price. The reason I need this particular system is its compatibility with In-dash LCD screen.

Another thing Jetta lacks is the sunroof and my brother sorely misses this. Is it possible to get a 'good quality' aftermarket fitment of a sunroof. Quality will be topmost priority. I really don't want water leakages, etc.

I need suggestions with dealers in NCR or Jaipur region. Once again, quality will be priority. Also, what is the normal time required for fitments and it it actually worth the pains.

I believe installing Parktronic system from after market will void the warranty straight way. Apart from that you can get a sunroof fitted from webasto which is undoubtedly best in the business, but you still need to check the warranty terms.

My advice, if you are keen on installing both the items get it installed from dealer only. It might cost you hefty, but it will atleast not void your warranty.

As mentioned, Webasto Sunroofs are the best. Check the link for further information on dealers and products:

Isn't VW giving out 4 year warranties on the Jetta? Believe me, you want that coverage a lot more than parking sensors or a sunroof. Euro cars have a high rate of part failure. As others suggested, best to get any options fitted at the dealer level, subject to your warranty staying intact.

Sunroof, no way boss. Cutting the roof on a new premium car should be completely avoided. You will never get OEM quality.

Parking sensors you can try and import the VW ones which are compatible with the display. Will be less than half the cost. Fitting maybe a problem if VW does not oblige.

Any Idea how much Webasto Hollandia 700 could cost for Jetta?

Its a strict 'no-no' about the sunroof. I know a guy here who tried to get a sunroof done on his Passat, and although it was done at the VW factory, they messed something up and it was a total disaster! If you didn't get something straight when the car was manufactured, 9 out of 10 times its recommended that you don't get it done at a later time.

All is best got done from the showroom.
Warranty issues won't crop up.

I think the Passat comes with sunroof right from the factory.

I believe there's an option available here, like the 'Sun & sound' package that some brands offer.

There have been apprehensions regarding aftermarket Sunroofs, but nobody mentioned the dealer or installer who messed up with the same. I believe this won't be the case with Webasto, as it's a known German brand which has joined hands with Motherson Group, another big name in India.

A kind request to post the details of the people who mess up as it may harm the general perception of a layman towards a brand which does quality work. I'm nowhere associated with Webasto or Motherson group and the reason I'm saying so is that we people tend to term the product/ innovation as bad and useless only because of a certain section of suppliers/ installers messing up. Like certain tyre guys duping a layman for oversized alloys and then the perception becomes that alloys reduces Fuel Economy and destroys the suspension.

@tsk13, you are right. There is no point being pessimistic about installing a sunroof. Some companies built convertible cars by sending their coupe versions to a modifier who would then cut it. If webasto knows how to do it, it should not be a problem. Do they give any kind of warranty for their work?

After market sunroof by webasto are good but only one problem it depends on who is doing it and they do LEAK if you are in area where there is lots of rain .the other problem is RUST so weighs things before you do it lastly I am not sure if it will increase your resale value since it is not factory original.good luck

The websites mentions major installers as authorised dealers of Hyundai (HMP, Delhi is there too), Ford, Honda, Toyota, Maruti etc. and known names like Auto Marc and Autopsyche.

The core product is the same, but the end result depends upon the installation. Here comes the point where a sound decision is required with reference to the installer.

U are dead right tsk but this is not limited to india alone

hi
u are right but this is not limited to india alone
after traveling all over the world i have some experience which want to share
example subaru is a good brand but bad service in china
even oil change was more expensive than germany brands such and mercedes and bmw
i live in china
for example suzuku swift made in china is so bad quality that the swift dds i have in india is miles ahead in term of quality compared to china
but all major brand have strong market and weak markets
for example i was in germany
made in germany vw or mercedes or bmw
was 60% superiror to quality
that the same model made for usa market which basically is made in mexcio
also with germany product is they are have produced accurately then have big problems
and i have normally seen brand when a germany company start a factory outside gerrmany in few year they have big problems in quality
so one must be care full
when installing aftermarket goodies specially in a german car
but this forum team bhp can be a great source to get more information
cheers
