Pete's Tuning box for i20

The stock does 160kmph easily; goes 180kmph top without much fuss; says a crazy driver who owns another Hyundai.

What can the Pete's do to this rocket? Try a box and see!

Hi JK

Interesting link!

I would be curious to know the pricing of the pete's box for i20, as well as what would be the effect on the car's fuel consumption.

Thanks

Swift one comes for around 28k so why i20 one is costly?
If its cos of the hp then guess Linea and Manza boxes will be of same price as well.

wow, nice stuff. But in my opinion very expensive though.
I suppose, tuning boxes, re-maps, dyno/rolling road re-maps are still very very expensive in India when compared to the costs in other countries..

I am waiting for the day when the prices will come down here too...

I dont know what is inside such boxes and wonder what the actual mfr costs of such boxes are...(may be if I knew the answer to this, I would be making the millions lol)

Wow!! Power improvements seem awesome!

Any idea regarding such a tuning box for 1.2 Petrol i20?

Thats because Pete's has almost a monopoly on it.
And the value they show is pretty good. 15bhp, 30bhp, etc for just 30k-40k. A potential customer just looks at these numbers, at the end of the day.

Then, you'll never get to good hp figures EVER!

is this proven? If I had to buy a tuning box for 30K, then I would probably want a complimentary before and after dyno run.

And about me, waiting for ever for good HP. I know!. I am still waiting to get FFE. I have like, enquired with almost all the tuners and still confused.

So much so, a local fabricator in Chennai, told me that couple of tuners get headers done from him. no calculationsinvolved ! Its hard to trust the claims, prices of some tuners...so I still wait patiently and if need be, I will keep waiting lol

Re: Pete's Tuning box for i20

Guys I have a 2012 I20 (p). I love the car but the pickup is abysmal. I was thinking to remapping my car, but the economy will take a hit as it already delivers 12-13 Kmpl. My question is, has anyone remapped their petrol I20? All the threads I have read seem to be for the diesel one only. If possible should I go for it?

Re: Pete's Tuning box for i20

@akp666; I think the remapping is almost totally restricted to turbocharged cars, diesel or petrol. Normally aspirated cars arr far more difficult to retune, and and the benefits no so large.

Re: Pete's Tuning box for i20

@akp666; Take the case of my Civic. In India we get it with 130bhp, while the European / US versions are 140bhp. So I wanted the ECU reprogrammed to the Euro/US spec. had no luck. I know it is just the ECU to be reprogrammed. Both curves are known, so no clever tricks involved. I am sure if I had stuck with it I may have found some pirated/grey code somewhere!
