Anyone using Radar Detector in their car to avoid speeding ticket?

Hi,

Got busted by cops in Greater noida expressway for over-speeding.. My local accessories guy advised me to install a radar detector to detect and alert any radar beam or laser being active in an area before hand (from say, a mile or two before) so that one can adjust the speed accordingly.. Anyone using this gadget or any experience with it? How effective is it? The cost is high (the basic one being 4500 bucks).

I read about some insights into this detector - How to Choose a Radar Detector

there are two models available for the same
one is the radio freequeny and secondly the laser technology

the one you are getting is the COBRA (i assume ) it has the radio frequency system which works good but sometimes mises the point you bought it for...

We have used this 3 years back ,and definitely works good but now a days it was not reading it perfectly so search out the problem and fount the above mentioned points

Just ask him that can you try it once ,and if satisfied with the product then you can buy

I did use a Snooper I had got from the UK for a while but that was a few years back. And I removed it because one there were too many false alarms in our conditions and two putting it on & removing it (when parking the car) was too much of a pain in everyday usage.

Radar Detector

Yeah, I use a Cobra Radar Detector in my car and It has helped me since past 2 years..... CHandigarh Cops are tooooo Snoopy and pesky when it comes to anything beyond two straight lines..
It has saved me a good 8-9 times in city and on the Highway as it has Laser Detector and Radar Detection features...

The Specs are
Cobra ESD7000 6 Band Radar Laser Detector - X-band, K-band, Ka-band, Laser - VG-2 Alert, VG-2 Immunity, Spectre Immunity - City, Highway - 360° Detection

If you have someone in the US , it comes @ approx 3000-3500 so not very costly considering a speeding ticket here is for 1000-1500 Rs...

Lemme know if you need one, i might have one which I planned to gift to my boss.. But never did. will have to search though

Cheers
Rohit
