Converting Esteem SOHC to DOHC

Hi,

Need some info:
What are the parts required to change a Esteem Mpfi to a DOHC Mpfi setup (Swift GTi)? And how much will it cost (approx)?

Also what gearbox will be best suited to a E-zen? Zen's or Esteem's?

Has anyone made a wide body Zen? would look cool! like the Pug 205 T16 group B rally car.

Hi,

You will basically have to change the entire engine along with the ECM as even though the bottom half is more or less the same the pistons used in the Indian Esteem are low compression type whereas the Swift GTI DOHC uses high compression pistons.

Mustangman, i suggest u get a DOHC aftermarket engine from viper instead.

Lot lesser hassles.

I agree with nitrous, it makes more sense, you can sell your SOHC engine and get a dohc setup from viper.

Changing your engine to a 1.6 twin cam makes no sence bro... why dont u just put in the baleno bottom half of the engine.. its a direct bolt on and compared to the driving conditions i dont think u will even cross 3rd gear
think about it.. u can complete the job in half the price

a swift gti setup is pretty reasonable, a baleno engine is little more expensive. the G15 with the twin cam head and a set of high comp pistons are awesome setup.

SV1, read again he wants to convert to twin cam, 1.6 is not mentioned anywhere.

Thanks guys...for all the help.....but as you may know i will need to strengthen the body (braces etc) get bigger brakes etc...... This will put my car out of commission for quite sometime, its my daily driver so I have put off all plans to modify till I can afford a 2nd car.
Mods - the tread can continue for others who are intrested in doing the same.
ZenGt - I have a carbon (3door) so I doubt all the wide body parts will fit. Though the car will look killer if done. (like a 205 T16 group B)

Re: Converting Esteem SOHC to DOHC

Ive been considering this mod for my esteem for quite sometime. A year ago i saw that a GTi engine was put up for sale by indrojit sarkar, back then i was in college. Now that i am working and can afford one, its gone. Anyways, can anyone give me a ballpark figure for the kinda money required for the whole shebang, engine and ecu ? If its against thread rules, please PM me, i shall be grateful.
