Help In the Back!

Hi people.I have a ford ikon 1.6 sxi.Now I wanted to know if I change the wheel size of my car larger than the stock can I put the spare tyre back in the trunk in its place or will it be large for the space provided for the stock tyre .If its small what do guys do who put larger wheels to get the spare tyre in the trunk .Also can any one suggest me are low profile tyres suitable for Indian roads?
