Modding i10 2009 into i10 2010

Now that Hyundai has come up with the next gen i10, it is human for some recent buyers of the previous gen i10 to envy the killer looks (subjective) of the recently launched i10. IMHO Hyundai has spared no effort to make the new i10 look a class apart.

Cutting the long story short, I have started the spadework to retrofit the front and rear bumpers along with the front grill on my 2009 i10 sportz. Could somebody shed some light on the following?

1. From a amateur's perspective the dimensions and design of the hood remains the same. However the headlight design has undergone a change. Will it be possible to retrofit the bumpers along with the new grill and headlights? Whats your take?

2. Retrofitting the rear bumper seems like a relatively easy job. Agree?

3. Should the side black molding be changed to body color to make the transformation complete?

4. How about the external antenna on the front top and the OSRVM as well?

5. The approx cost of carrying out the above mentioned job?

Will my old gen i10 resemble exactly like the newly launched one (externally only) if the above job is executed? stupid:

I am interested in retrofitting the short antenna and the electrically adjustable ORVMs.

Plus one to that bro. Would also like to know if the new tail-lamps would fit the old i10. I don't like the headlamps of the new car soo much but absolutely love the tail-lamps:D

IMO, that would be the only trickiest part in the transformation process simply because it involves electricals. You may need to source the ORVMs + driver's side control pane on the door which would mount your regular power window + OVRM controls.

As far as the antenna and bumpers are concerned, I guess its more of a bolt on job. Any idea about how these OEM accessories would be prices by Hyundai? Or should we wait and watch for Hyundai to offer a bolt on bodykit which would take care of all these cosmetic changes?

And how about trading in your annoying reflective beige dashboard for a grey one?

Yeah, forgot about the tail lamp cluster... thats one looker, thanks for reminding.

BTW is it possible to change the front bumper without changing the headlamps?

I just have a feeling (not entirely sure though) that the new tail-lamps can be installed in the old car without changing the rear bumper. I personally like the black bumper protecting strips on the old car soo i prefer the old front and rear bumpers.

The new front headlamps are of slightly different dimensions soo installing them on the old car might not be possible without changing the front bumper.:)

I second that. Just take a look at the rear of my i10 Sportz Vs. Rear of face lifted version, it is quite evident that tail lamp cluster would snugly fit into any previous gen i10's tail, without affecting the bumper. The same will not be possible with the headlamps tho'.

Well the tail light do look SLIGHTLY different. Just observe the bottom right corner of both the lights and u will see. BUT i may be wrong here as the camera angle of the pics are different.

Well thanks for the pic dude, but after looking at that pic with the old and the new i10 tail lamps side by side, i feel its not possible to fit the rear tail lamp of the new i10 onto the old car without changing the bumper. The new tail-lamp looks like its slightly larger in size (lower portion of the tail lamp assembly to be exact) compared to the old i10. Have a look at this edited pic of the old i10 rear to understand what i mean.

Not really... I think my mobile cam has created that distortion and blame my my shooting angle too.

If at all there is a difference, it would be very negligible. Any reputed bodyshop would handle it aplomb.

I hope soo my dear friend. anyways, do keep us all updated with the progress of various mods you have in mind for your ride (with pics if possible).

Changing the lights etc. will inevitably involve some amount of paint work. Why on earth would you make a perfectly good 1 year old car go through all of that? Not to mention, the $$$ could be better spent on a nice set of alloy wheels (and other upgrades such as ICE etc.). Believe me, a well done up pre-facelift i10 will look better than a stock facelift model.

I totally agree with GTO. To me the only change to the pre facelift model that makes sense would be the change in the dash colour. The facelift dash looks much better than the pre-face lift model and also reduces the windscreen glare.

if you are so much impressed with the new model, why don't you sell the old one and get the new 2010 model.

Agree with GTO, doing this is not a good idea, the lights etc and other stuff will be expensive. You can simply spend on low pro wheels and rubber and ICE and soup your original car up. At least everything is original which itself shows your taste/thinking. It will be difficult to sell your modded i10 unless you find another fellow who 'thinks' like you.
