25k: Modify my Swift
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifications-accessories/92828-25k-modify-my-swift.html)
Hi guys. My fiancee just got a used Swift VXi with 21k on the odo.
It's in reasonably good shape, and doesn't need mechanical work.
I'd like some suggestions on what to do with it.
There are 3 things that we want, at first:
1. New Wheels (tyres are good for now)
2. CAI with Performance Filter
3. Free Flow Exhaust.
We have 25-30 k on hand right now. Don't want to cross the budget.
Please give me suggestions on which CAI system to get. I am going to order it tomorrow, that is the 29th of November, which means I will need the model no. for the system. It's the G13BB engine, which doesn't show on the K&N Vehicle Chooser list. Dunno why, but it's kinda weird, considering how mod friendly the Swift actually is.
Again, I would like to ask if Automech or BAR Exhaust at Mumbai Central do a better job at Free flow exhausts . I've had a good experience with BAR, but would like to ask if someone has had good experiences with their Swift at Automech. Will take the call on which one, soon.
Note that these mods are not for the 'sound' but solely performance oriented. My fiancee's brother and dad will be driving the car and they have strictly asked for a silent exhaust note (a little throaty growl is allowed, but not much)
And while you are at it, please suggest some good Alloy wheel designs stupid:
Frank I suggest you take a trip to Pal tyres on Lamington rd. Ranvir there will show you a good selection and give you good prices. You can give my reference if you want, or Tejas'. Decide on your own what wheels you want after seeing them, thats the best way.
As for the CAI, I dont think there is any CAI specific for that engine. Order a Green Wind CAI from petes, it will be good enough.
All 3 should be just about possible in your budget.
pipercross has CAI or best is try cosworth CAI specifically for swift petrol. You can also try their carbon fiber exhausts.

Aah good find :thumbs up
Pal does keep lenso, and yes he will let you try wheels on the car.
Well Ive only used BAR and ive found their work quite good.
Frank,
Considering its a girl car i think you might have to ask her if she needs to have a freeflow exhaust and the CAI. When i installed these to my car my wife is like "i know you are coming from half a kilometers distance". Get a nice set of tyres and alloys and invest the rest on ICE and seat covers she will be happy with it. Just an advice from a bakra to a would be bakra :D
Pramod
Congrats doc,
So will there be a carputer or a high end HU in the swift too ?
after all she'll be the queen of one of the best music capable car in mumbai once your carputer is completed.
Wow. Thanks guys. This is going to be driven by her dad and brother. She drives an Accent. ICE is not that much of a priority for them :-)
Her dad and brother are both up for a car that drives well.
Oh, and Cosworth is a fabulous idea. I shall look them up first thing tomorrow morning!
Just one thing. I am not sure if 30k would be enough for a decent set-up.
Good set of wheels should set you back from around 15k (I am talking decent or average here, there may be some available even for as low as 10-12 k).
CAI should work up to around 6-8 K
FFE on the other hand, along with end can, should come to around 20-22 k.
All together, if you opt for the decent kit, it should be in the range of around 40.
Alternately, you can go in for stock replacement filters (but dont expect significant power gains), which should be around 3-4k max. you shuld be able to get wheels if you look at a unbranded wheels. (Have seen Plati's going for 12k for a set of 4 in Bangalore).
FFE from automech (with headers and end can) will cost approx. 12-14,000 bucks. Stock replacement filters will be approx. 3-4,000. So 30,000 odd bucks will just about do it.
Umm, Can I ask why your Fiance needs a CAI or a FFE?? OR is it you that needs it?? :D
@cyrus43
I also have the same question in my mind..
But there are few exceptional girls who are into cars
@frank
There are made for swift cai kits available in pipercross and crosworth
For Ffe I have tried Automech for my ohc Ffe job was well done no issues at all my requirements for Ffe were similar to yours and they fulfilled it perfecto.
Have TD swift with Automech exhaust she was dam nice.

Hey buddy, does the swift not drive well otherwise?:)
I might sound like a critic but I truly feel that the drivers of this car dont need any such intended modification though I maybe wrong. Rest is your call.

I made my girlfriend buy the VDi with Alloy wheels and ABS as I was goingto drive that car and the Alloys look better! :D So....I know. HAHAHA!! Frank bhai who is paying for these mods?? You or them?? :)
Frank, considering that it's your fiancée / her family that is going to drive the car, why bother with a performance exhaust & intake? Spend the 30K instead on ICE. I'm sure they'll enjoy connecting their iPod to a nice audio system a lot more!
